Turning the tables on American bashers in my blog.

If you're an American living in Britain, you quickly learn how ubiquitous America-bashing is. They talk about how we're fat, unsophisticated, gun-loving, non-passport-having, warmongers as if every American was the exact same, and every Briton was a peace-loving, slim, diplomat.

So I wrote a blog to show them how it feels when someone from another country criticises you:

There are a lot of people on my facebook feed and who have commented on the blog itself about how smug and rude these Liechensteiners are...

I thought I would let the crowd at UK-Yankee in on the joke. As expats, I know that you all know exactly what this blog is in reaction to... I hear and read every one of these criticisms about the U.S. almost daily.

And it's not that they're wrong about everything. U.S. healthcare system is crap, some Americans are fat and gun violence is a huge problem. But it's almost as if some British people literally could never even imagine some of the same things being said about them.  It's the complacent smugness of these critiques that bother me.

Oh well. Glad someone's enjoying it and "gets" it.
