Moving from Washington state to Kent
« on: November 26, 2015, 07:49:14 AM »
Hi, everyone.
I'm currently living in Washington with my son and hoping to move to Kent to live with my partner.
Like everyone else, I'm terrified of the Visa process. I'll be looking at the other threads and hope to quell some of my fears, especially surrounding how much it all costs!
I'm excited to be here, to have found a place to get some support and hopefully encouragement.
Also, do folks ever meet up? I deal with a lot of anxiety and panic and worry that my homesickness might trigger some of that. I thought if there were folks to get to know that that might make it easier.

Off to look through the rest of the forum and the rest of the site. Thanks so much for having this here.

Washington fellow here as well....although I live up in N Yorkshire. Like you stated.....go back and look at some threads from the last few months since some of the requirements have been changing recently. Get on the Gov UK site and go through what they want. I'm the kind of person who doesn't hold all the info easily so I go through things a bunch of times and let a little bit soak in each time. I flipped back and forth between the official visa site and what is on this site.......at some point it started making sense. Then when I thought I had things pretty close I ran it by the sharp people on this site to have someone double check things.

The move to the UK was easy for me since I had already lived out the US for 30 years (14 in the UK)......having been away from where I grew up (but for visits) there was no homesickness. There is no right answer on that topic......but with things like they are these days (Skype, internet etc)....keeping in close contact can be fairly easy.
Fred
