US Passport Renewal
« on: December 13, 2015, 04:11:16 PM »
Hi,

Great community you have here and I hope this is in the right forum.  My wife (USC) wants to change to using her married name on her US Passport which seems like a simple postal renewal to the US Embassy in London.  The only problem is - how do we pay for it?  For postal renewals the only seem to accept the following methods of payment:
Quote
  • Checks (personal, certified, cashiers, travelers), payable to "U.S. Department of State"
  • Money orders (U.S. Postal, international, currency exchange), payable to "U.S. Department of State"

They don't seem to accept UK Postal Orders, and neither of us have a cheque book.  Lloyds Bank have said the only thing they could provide us with is an "International Draft" for the renewal fee in USD - would this be sufficient?  The only other option I can think of is having her parents mail us a US Postal Order, but it seems crazy that this would be necessary.

Thanks!

You have to send them your credit/debit card information. This was taken from the website"Please DO NOT mail the form to the United StatesThe non-refundable application fee for a passport renewal by mail is $110.00.  Download the credit card payment form, here, as a PDF.  Before submitting the form with your application, notify your credit card company, otherwise the payment may be declined.  Original evidence of your name change, if applicable, such as marriage certificate, Change of Name Deed Poll or Statutory Declaration and court order."

Thanks - I didn't see this on the website.  This is where we were directed to - http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/information/fees.html [nofollow]

Under "By Mail" it doesn't list Credit/Debit card at all.  I see now though that specifically on the US Embassy in London's website, there's a link t othe PDF.  That should do it - thanks again!
