Carpet and flooring brands etc.
« on: December 29, 2015, 06:17:52 PM »
Please tell me what the best quality carpet brands are here in UK. I am looking for durability and clean ability and loads of choice in colours. I ask people here and they are clueless.

Also a top quality brand for vinyl flooring and laminate.

I need the shop where I purchase to also install it so I need that to be well done. Unless there is a way to buy it and have someone else install it??

Thanks.

We just installed laminate downstairs and carpet upstairs. We used CarpetRight.....decent price, but used a local joiner for installation which was a lot cheaper. We got what I thought was a great price for carpet installation of £155....granted, it wasn't that much carpet but.....

A friend of mine is a carpet fitter and he likes to go to the shop with the carpet buyer because he gets a trade discount, he can tell them about the carpet independently and he also ensures he knows when its going to be delivered.  He can also then get any underlay and other needed bits delivered at the same time.

Look in local papers for carpet fitters.

Hi

Take a look here

http://www.bloomsburgcarpet.com/

and

http://www.architecturaldesigncarpets.com/brands.aspx

Lots of brands for you to check out and research.

To give you a little idea on some pricing, around 2007'ish we wanted a design feature floor and were recommended Amtico. The space was perhaps 3m x 2.5m and the quote with the design we wanted came in at around £4000. After some evaluation, we ended up going with a ceramic tile instead and that section came to around £750 or so.

Like any product, there's entry, mid and high level brands and markets, so really depends on the depth of your wallet/purse.

Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!

Be sure to haggle on the price quoted.  We saved 10 percent on our carpet just for having the balls to ask .
