NON-PROFIT PLEASE
« on: February 06, 2016, 03:48:36 AM »
So I went onto the UK Visa site to check out the options for possibly getting sponsored by a Non-Profit. There is a seemingly long list of places that are "registered" to sponsor people. I really really would like to just go out there to live and let my son delve into a culturally diverse education system whilst I volunteer my time at a church or the like. I have been saving for a while now, and really would like to just get involved in a ministry. I checked out a couple of "long term missionary" organizations, but I have a 7 year old child and that seems to be stopping that specific process as they do not sponsor minors even if the family is committing together.. I didn't know if someone maybe had some suggestions for this kind of situation.

Have you considered other countries besides the UK?  The U.K. is very anti-immigration and they make it VERY hard to get a visa.

What organisations does your church in the US support?  Could you look into mission work with that organisation?  It might be a different country but would give you the cultural diversity you crave for you and your son.

If you really just want to experience living in the UK could you afford to send your child to a fee paying day school? There are visas for children studying in the UK: https://www.gov.uk/child-study-visa/overview, and a visa for parents accompanying their child:  https://www.gov.uk/parent-of-a-child-at-school-visa .

I am just throwing this out there for you to take a look at and haven't taken a look at the requirements. And someone else may come along and advise that these visas rarely given etc. I'm not the expert!
