One question theOAP, surely whether or not you get (or include) UK child tax credits has nothing to do with claiming US child tax credits.
Your post made me smile; while typing the above I had the exact same thought. It would be the ultimate height of cheekiness to receive and not declare as income the UK Credit on 1040 and to then proceed to take the US Credit.

I agree with your statement; taking the US credit has no dependence on whether you receive a UK credit or not. That's the point of the above series of posts; the Child Tax Credits of the two countries are in no way connected to each other.
