Hello,

I am a dual citizen American-Canadian moving to London this summer. Hope to get some good info here as we prepare for the move!

Thanks Larrabee! My husband is the one who got the job and we're all accompanying him. He completed his doctorate in Edinburgh 10 years ago and I used to be part of the American Expats in the UK forums.  I don't think it exists anymore? Anyway, perhaps I will run into some old friends here as well as make some new ones. 

They still exist.  While they are fun and great for day-to-day life, I would HIGHLY recommend you stick to this site for critical visa information as you WILL get a LOT of incorrect/outdated info on the Facebook pages.  Search for:

American Women in the UK
American Ex-Pats in the UK

If you have kids, you may also want to join
America Expat Moms in the UK
