I agree - more power to people who can do door-to-door sales, it's definitely not something I could ever do! But it still doesn't change the fact that I don't know the person or anything about the fish they're selling. I'm not rude either, I just politely decline. (Though I do get irritated when people ring the doorbell while my son is sleeping!)

Unless you catch it yourself almost all fish is frozen at sea.  The trawler might be out for a week.  With the fast freezing they do now you can refreeze it.

I've heard of this from others (the fresh fish man), but haven't had it in my area.  We do have a fishmonger in town which is probably why we don't have a van.

But it reminds me of life in Colorado where they would knock on your door and ask if you wanted to buy a cow (or half a cow).  THAT was a wild experience for me the first time.  I half expected to see a cow grazing on the grass and mooing.

I bet it became darkly clear when he mentioned the half cow.

"Half cow? Is it some sort of hybrid.......oh......half a cow...."

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC
