I don't drink coffee often, but when I drink it at home, it's just a stovetop espresso (Italian moka). It's way cheaper than any coffee maker (I think it cost about £15 and has lasted a few years already), only takes a few minutes to brew and for me, it makes coffee just as good.
A major plus: it doesn't take up any of our precious counter space.

One downside: when I made coffee for SIL, it was waaaay too strong for her. I think she's more into instant coffee with half the cup filled with hot milk.

To each her own.
I used to buy instant coffee, but I only used it for making Greek frappé. Actually, I might buy some to get two birds with one stone - SIL can get her instant coffee (for her once-a-year-when-she-
has-to visit) & DH and I can have frappé in the summer.
