Well I sometimes introduce my wife as my "travelling companion" or "special friend".

Please tell me that you use air quotes when you say either "travelling companion" or "special friend".  I would find that funny!!  Husband and I are very boring and just use wifey and husbandy.  But I might have to steal your introductions.   ;D

"Date for the evening" is good too.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC
