I need iced tea!
« on: July 13, 2016, 07:03:27 PM »
I am missing iced tea and the Lipton's rubbish in the bottle doesn't cut it.

I tried making my own using regular everyday tea bags here and umm...yea it didn't turn out so great somehow?

Does anyone know of where I might find decent tea bags for iced tea?

I have most definitely learned that not all tea is created equally since moving here :-/ Oh how I miss publix iced tea now!!

I can't get it quite right either....

For one thing I think tea is just a little stronger here....so if you steep it too long it can be a bit potent. Just thoughts.

I have read that a pinch of baking soda will clear the cloudiness up, but I have never tried it.

No need to thank me for this enlightening post.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

It is VERY potent. It looked alright yesterday but today it did look more cloudy as you say. Might have to try the baking soda.

I had some sent over by a friend in exchange for me sending her some tea from Whittard's. I've been rationing it ever since! (It's helped that this has been a ridiculously cold summer so far so I haven't been craving it as much.)

What kind did you get sent to you? I think I need to ask my mom for some Luzianne. I cant remember what the Lipton Cold Brew taste like. Nothing will compare to Publix so it doesnt matter I guess :-(

You might need to make a simple syrup to get the flavour right?
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

It's Lipton for Iced Tea, and tastes like I remember Luzianne tasting back home.

I'll be honest - have no idea what syrup would be used haha

After a couple of days in the fridge, the tea turned like...murky. It looked like I got it straight from the swamp. I dont think I will be trying to make iced tea again with regualr english tea bags for a while!

Oh, simple syrup is what you would use to sweeten it. It's a concoction of sugar and water that you wouldn't have to worry about the sugar needing to dissolve. It goes into all sorts of drinks from iced coffees at Starbucks to mojitos. You can infuse it with flavourings too.

I'm not an iced tea drinker (pepsi addict here), so I don't know what to do in regards to cloudiness.

I'm not an iced tea drinker, but I once sent some Yorkshire tea to a friend in Chicago. She said it made the best iced tea ever. (So now I sent it to her all the time.)

For anyone that cares, Ocado carry bottled Lipton and Arizona iced teas.

You can get some Arizona ones from Home Bargains for 89p! The Lupton ones aren't that nice I think. I want to make my own jug at home like I used to (and not have it turn into murky swamp water haha)

You need orange pekoe tea. I buy it online, but a large supermarket might stock it.

Got this at the Japanese Resturaunt Eat Tokyo in London. It wasn't high quality by any measure, but tasted like American iced tea.

I don't like 'flavoured' iced teas... I just want plain iced tea that tastes of TEA!
