No definite time-table, but we will be moving to the UK
« on: July 20, 2016, 06:24:58 PM »
My hubby is a UKC and I'm a USC. We've been married 17 years, and have lived in the US since we married. (We met online - on a car-related message board... NOT on a dating site!)

Our goal is to live "close" to London (although I would prefer to live in Kensington but finances and expenses being what they are....). We likely will be retired from our US jobs when we move to the UK, so the current monetary requirements shouldn't impact us in terms of savings, job offers, etc., although we will both likely try to find part-time work just to keep ourselves busy.

We travel to the UK twice a year, currently, and I am ready to go. Except for the retirement thing. And I have an elderly, frail parent in the US, so I can't leave here with that issue. :(

DH's immediate family is in Cambs, but living near them is not a requirement. He has other family in York, London, and Dorset.

I've been perusing this site for quite a while, and thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself. Eager to see how the rules/requirements will change as we work toward our move.

Oh, no, sorry - nothing you said :).

Welcome to the forum :).

All the best for your plans to move to the UK - if you have any questions about the visa application process, feel free to post in the Visas and Citizenship section :).

Do you know when you're hoping to move?

Definitely not something you said! Sorry, we sometimes miss the welcome wagon posts.

Hopefully things aren't going to change too much visa wise in the future, but you never know! It's always a good idea to keep an eye on it. :)

Feel free to join in on any of the topics. We've got them all over the board! (gotta love accidental puns...)

Hope you're having a lovely day!
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Well, she was an American girl, raised on promises.
She couldn't help thinking that there was a little more to life, somewhere else.
After all it was a great big world, with lots of places to run to.
And if she had to die trying she had one little promise she was gonna keep.
