Coverage When Visiting Home
« on: August 26, 2016, 08:35:55 PM »
Hi all -

As I don't have health insurance back in the states, what happens if I need some sort of medical coverage when back home in NY.  Say for an accident or early labor ??

In the UK on Further Leave to Remain, Spousal Visa.

We're going over for thanksgiving and booked the trip before I knew I was pregnant.  Will be 31 weeks so I'm curious as to what happens if I go into early labor.

Thanks!!!

As any British (or other) visitor to the States you would be wise to arrange travel health insurance for your trip.  There are loads of different companies dealing with this (including the Post Office) so you'll just have to compare them for the best deal.  May be tricky for pregnancy  :P

Please check with your airline if they will allow you to fly if you are over 28 weeks.  Some will allow it but will require a certificate from your doctor others will not allow long haul travel after 28 weeks..

Thanks for the advice!

We do have travel insurance but will call up next week checking coverage for pregnancy.

And fortunately I can still fly!  Just need the note from the doctor.
