I sent another email to UKVI realizing that they're probably not going to do anything but since our MP is not responding either, got nothing to lose.  Mev, I actually wrote "I am begging you".  I have no more dignity left.  They came back and said they'll escalate but didn't collect any further info from me so guess where that escalation is going?  Absolutely nowhere.

Awww Phu:( totally relate though, pretty much told the MP the same so that makes two of us! It's our basic human right and we deserve to know and have our visas back now. I can't wait for the day you let us know you've gotten it bc guess what? It's going to happen soon. I have a feeling this latest escalation email of yours will produce results!

We'll make it:)

Greetings all!   I have an update:

Last week, I got a bit freaked out because someone posted they were denied, and ksand24 mentioned that we MUST put documentation in proving we had a relationship prior to our wedding (i.e. boarding passes of trips, letters, etc.).  I didn't do that. I only put in a picture from the wedding.  From that, we started making a contingency plan if I need to be here even longer.

So once I saw people reaching out to their MPs, we did the same via email.  My husband had a face-to-face appointment on this past Friday with the caseworker at the MP's office.  She stated she would follow up.  I just received an email from the caseworker stating that our application is still not decided.  She also said that if we wanted to ADD info to the application, we could do so.  That we needed to send the additional info via registered post, let her know the delivery confirmation number, and the MP would ensure that it gets added to our application.  She also said that I should have sent in the original marriage license (which I sent a copy).  She stated that once I sent the additional info, that the MP "would be happy to write to the Home Office to ask them to decide your case as soon as possible".

So, what type of info do I need to include as proof of our relationship? I don't have boarding passes anymore (although I may be able to get them from email or something). What info have other people included?  I need to get this info over there ASAP.

Thanks!

Hi! My husband and I went with a lawyer helping us with our application, and while I've noticed that many people on here are saying to not over do it with relationship info, I would argue to do the opposite and was advised to. We include photos from each year of our dating relationship, photos with each others parents and family and many photos from our wedding. We also included boarding passes and emails of confirmations, messages and call logs from our entire relationship, and other things that proved we had been in a relationship prior to the marriage. (For example screenshots of Facebook posts, cards sent to one another with dated envelopes etc.) and yes an original marriage certificate.

I would say don't give them ANY reason to doubt.
Best of luck!

I have advised on probably thousands of fiancé and spousal visa applications over the last 10 years.... Almost all of which have been approved with the 'less is more' approach.

The more you send, the more work you give the ECO and the longer it takes for them to process the application, as they have to wade through all the unnecessary things to get to the important documents... And sometimes those important documents can get missed under excessive relationship documents.

Yes, everyone should include all those documents you mentioned above, but don't send tons of each.

The original marriage certificate is mandatory and actually used to be the only relationship document required for a spousal visa, along with a photo if you wanted to include one...

... Until they said they also wanted to see evidence of contact and continued relationship over the entire duration, so it had to be adjusted a bit to include evidence of continued contact.

So, just 1 or 2 photos max - with only you and your sponsor in them.  Family and friends should not be in them, since the photo is only to verify that the two of you have met in person at least once.

When sending screenshots of communication, only include a selection of dates, times and subject lines covering the entire relationship... On only 1-2 sheets of paper per communication type. No message/email content should be included unless you can't help it.

It's a tick box visa... They just have to tick each thing off:

- did they send their marriage certificate? Yes
- did they send a photo showing they've met? Yes
- did they send boarding passes showing trips? Yes
- did they send evidence of email/Skype contact? Yes

Okay, the relationship docs meet the requirement... Onto the next section of the application.

Hi, everyone,

It's my first time posting here, and I just wanted to start by saying thank you! It's so easy to get sucked into the whole visa process and forget that there are other people going through the same thing. You've reminded me that I'm not alone and I love the support everyone gives to each other on this forum. It's definitely a comfort in this stressful time.

Anyways, here's the timeline of my husband's and my current visa situation. I just wanted to share! I know we probably still won't hear back for awhile yet, but I guess posting just makes me feel like I'm at least DOING something, you know? :/

Country: USA
Type of visa applied for: Settlement (wife, non-priority)
Date of online application: 11 August 2016
Date biometrics taken: 18 August 2016
Date documentation was received by UK Border Agency office: 22 August 2016
Office location processing your visa: Sheffield
Confirmation email that documents received: 20 September 2016
Projected timeline given: 12 weeks
Decision Made Email: TBD
Date your visa was received: TBD

Hi caimora23, welcome to the forum.
They are starting to get through the summer backlog quite quickly at the moment so hopefully you won't have very much longer to wait.  :)

Just wanted to provide an update.  We received our decision email this morning.  This is so ironic but we are probably the only family on this forum who doesn't want to get their visa back at this time.  We only found out a few weeks ago (on this forum) that we only have 30 days to move after receiving the visa vs. 3 the months so we are definitely scrambling to donate and sell everything.

Application received by Sheffield:  8/17/16
Confirmation email:  9/20/16
Decision email:  11/1/16
