I think I have a plan of what I'm going to order. It's 50kg/m3 which is on the soft side, (I think the silent night one is the same density) and comes in the size I need which is the small double.

All I have to do is decide which thickness. I can choose 1,2,3 or 4" and have narrowed it down to 2 or 3".

With a really hard mattress, the foam topper I'm going to get being soft and my not wanting to feel like I'm trapped in the stuff, can I have some opinions of whether I should get the  2" vs 3" please?   ;D

I'd do 2 inches.  Our mattress is VERY firm.  And the thin topper we have really adds the right amount.  Think of it as adding a pillow top to the existing mattress.

Needless to say this will be a VERY personal choice!  You may do better with 3 inches.  Unfortunately you probably won't know what's right until you've slept on it for a few nights.

Thank you KFdancer! I keep thinking about you being happy on yours at 2"!

I also think the 2" may be the safer option, less likely to feel stuck in it possibly?

I think you'll probably do fine with the 2", it does add a nice cushion to a firm mattress which is what we have too.  I'm not sure I would have added the extra 2 inches if I wasn't having such an awful time sleeping earlier this year (which turned out to be caused by anemia induced RLS - thank heaven that's been fixed!) and got desperate.

I'll admit that I'm quite happy with my 4", but after all my bones are 60 years old now.   ;D
Here 2 years as of Oct. 1, 2016.

Thanks Becca! I actually went ahead and ordered the 2" today.

I figured that I would rather it be not quite enough than be too much and I felt like I was stuck in it!

Hopefully it'll be just right but I am now looking at microfiber toppers to put on top, in case it's not!
