So awesome!
« on: October 11, 2016, 10:46:49 PM »
I am so excited and feel like I might burst!

I was offered a US copywriting job for an International car accessories company here in Derby. *does a little dance* Whoo!! I get to use the "right" words and spellings now! Haha.

I went from unemployed to employed in a little over a week. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. So much better than the 2 months unemployment then 3 months of underemployment starting in May. I was really worried there for a bit.

Congratulations !

There's a few contract related specialists I know in Derby, but I think it's the one I know that's American and who I'll soon be looking to work/partner with! When I get to schedule a meeting with the right people (already spoken to some of the staff there for an internal heads up!) I'll drop you a line and say hi over a coffee/tea/biscuit/cookie/pint!

Cheers, DtM ! West London & Slough UK!

Thanks BriKH, Larrabee and KFDancer!

It's been a long summer. I just got my offer letter today. Contract coming in the mail. 😁

I start on Tuesday.

One not so awesome thing, since my visa expires in Feb they don't want to do a permanent contract until I have my next visa. Is that 'normal'? I'm on a 6 month contract for the moment, rolling after that because i know FLR is taking longer than it has been. They all said they want me for the long haul at my interview, it's the HR people who said this is how it would need to be.

I thought the expiry date might be a negative but had no idea what/how it would affect things.

I'd call bull on that.  I've not had any issue with my expiration date.  I explain that the next visa cannot be applied for until I'm within 28 days of the expiration and that it will be completed and I promise to remain legal at all times.  Sometimes they just need a bit of push back and confirmation.

Well, it's going through a recruitment agency, it would be so much easier if I was actually working with them myself. *sigh* I'm not sure if I can push back at this point. I'll wait to see what the contract actually says too. The letter was a bit weirdly written.

Muchas gracias! I'm excited!!!

Fuzzy dice would be awesome! I should suggest them as a fun thing to do to get their name out in the US. We all love silly retro things!!

Dog and cargo barriers for cars, SUVs and crossovers as well as some other accessories. They're mainly Europe and the US right now and working to be global.

Congrats!!!

Thanks you! It's pretty darn awesome! Lots of commuting though til I can drive.

I was kind of hoping you could get me one of those steering wheels made out of welded chain so I can drive with handcuffs on.
