Here's something I haven't seen asked before: Does anyone know if they send e-mails or whenever or if there's a cutoff time in a day when they stop? Like if there's a time during the day I should stop looking for an e-mail after.

Good question Asella! I usually stop refreshing the inbox around 5pm GST, but I don't actually know what their office hours are.

Woke up this morning to an email from Sheffield, was very excited as my next email was meant to be "a decision has been made" ... instead they just emailed me my confirmation email for the second time. Completely identical to the email they sent me on Monday. What are they up to over there...?

Hoping they just selected the wrong pre-written message by accident and perhaps tomorrow I'll get an email with a tracking number..  :P

Pretty much anytime after 5pm GMT. End of the work day and all that. Nice thing is that's still early in the morning for most of the US.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Let me know if you hear anything! :)

Hey Asella
Hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving. Just giving you an update. I received my dispatched email today. I'm very nervous but I should be getting it this week.
Have you heard anything, since our timeline was basically the same?

Hi everyone

So glad to hear of everyone who has been accepted and granted a visa.

I have been having many panic attacks as I await my documents because I have read somewhere that is your subject head only contains a VAF number that you wasn't granted the visa, but if it contains a REF number also that it was granted. Did anyone only have a VAF number and was granted a visa or is the myth true😭😭 this is so stressful and I shouldn't have been reading all these forums.

Could they refuse me because I didn't send my origianal marriage certificate I only sent a copy of it and also I didn't include my bank statements. Would they have emailed me to send these to them or would they just deny me automatically.

Mrs freaking out

The only genuinely reliable way to know (as far as I'm aware) is if your IHS payment has been refunded.  As it'll be refunded if the visa is refused.  But changes are this would take longer than it would take for the visa to be returned to you.

What do you mean by a copy of the marriage certificate?  Do you mean an actual Xerox copy or a copy issued from the courthouse/registry office?  An original is required, but the "copies" issued by the local authority will be considered originals.

Your bank statements are not required, only the sponsor's bank statements are required (unless using your rental property, pension, or savings to meet the requirement).

No, they are not obligated to contact you if something is missing.  We had a member refused last month for not including his/her divorce decree from a prior marriage.  Shame as they haven't been *that* harsh in the past (they have since reapplied and the visa has been granted).

I made a photo copy with the machine 😭😭 so I'll be refused because of this right? It took 8 days to refuse me 😭 Should I reapply as soon as possible if it's denied and put the original marriage certificate?

I wouldn't worry until you know you have a reason to worry.  While a photocopy is not technically acceptable, sometimes they let things slide.  Honestly, don't lose sleep over anything until you know definitively.

But yes, if you were refused due to only having a copy of the marriage certificate, you can simply reapply and include the original.  An expensive mistake but easily rectified.
