bank statement question
« on: November 10, 2016, 04:12:53 PM »
My fiance is getting his pays slips and bank statements together for me to send in for the tourist visa. He has a question about the bank statements.

Are all of the pages in the bank statement required, or just the first page with all of the information? For the month of September, he is (for some reason) missing page 2, out of 3, with transactions on it. The statement still has his paycheck being deposited in to his account (on the first page) even with this missing 2nd page, and I thought that this was all they really needed to see.

Sorry if that was a little confusing! Thanks for the help  :)

If it's just for a visitor visa, I would imagine just evidence of his payslip being deposited will be sufficient, however, if he can submit the whole bank statement, that might be safer.

The visitor visa documents guidance is a bit vague on this (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/549692/Visitor_Supporting_Documents_Guide_-_English_version.pdf):

Financial documents showing that you have sufficient funds available.

These must clearly show that you have access to the funds, such as:
- bank statements
- building society book
- proof of earnings such as a letter from employer confirming employment details (start date of employment, salary, role, company contact details)
- where a third party (who is either in the UK or who will be legally in the UK at  the time of your visit) is providing financial support to you e.g. a business, a friend or a relative, documents to show they have sufficient resources to support you in addition to themselves and any dependant family should be provided

Thank you!

But I'm guessing that's something he needs to find before I apply for the spousal visa, anyway.

Also, I wanted to attach the letter that he has written to see if it covers everything he needs to say, or if it's too much. My mom has also written a similar letter because I added her on as additional financial support as well. I was just a little worried because my fiance bought a new car last month, and is moving in to a new house at the end of this month, so from purely a bank statement viewpoint, his funds are a bit tight recently.

Please let me know if anything needs to be changed!  :)

"To whom it may concern,
My name is ****. My girlfriend, **** will be visiting me in the United Kingdom from January 4th- May 10th. She will be on a standard tourist visa and I will be supporting her financially throughout her stay. She will be staying with me at my house in Cambridgeshire at ****** for the duration of her visit.
I am employed by **** football club. I earn **** a month before tax (this does not include potential bonuses). I am prepared to financially support Kendall for the 4 months that she will be in the UK, along with additional financial support from her mother if ever necessary.
Kendall and I will be returning to the United States of America in May together to spend the summer together and to see her sister graduate from college on May 13.

Thank you,

****"

Yes, for the spousal visa he will need to provide every page of every bank statement covering the full 6 months before applying (assuming Category A).

They must either be original, or if printed from online banking, they must either be stamped/signed by the bank on EVERY page, or accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the bank.

The important thing will likely be his regular income, because although his balance might be low, he is showing that he will be paid regularly.

The letter should be addressed to the Entry Clearance Officer, rather than 'to whom it may concern'.

Otherwise it looks fairly good to me - I'm not too familiar with invitation letters for visitor visas, but it seems to cover the main points.

- He should include a copy of his passport photo page as well, to show he is a British citizen and legally resident in the UK

- He should probably say that he is including his payslips and bank statements as proof of his finances to support you.

- It may also be worth him mentioning that you plan to marry when you return to the US and then apply for a UK spousal visa afterwards, rather than just mentioning the graduation and spending the summer together.

I've found some sample visitor visa letters online, though most of the results seem to be aimed at international students in the UK who are having family members come to visit them, but they still give the general idea:

Thank you so much! I kind of like applying for this little tourist visa, it's like an easier practice run before the big one!!  ;D
