Bank account without a job
« on: December 08, 2016, 01:22:25 PM »
I read the flagged post and want to confirm (because it's out of date), can I open a bank account without having a job? I don't want to continually be charged transaction fees from my American bank account. Tips for ways around this?

Is there any sort of "starting out in the UK on a visa guide somewhere?" I guess I shouldn't be surprised that after picking up my BRP there were zero instructions on what's next. Tips? Places to look?

There shouldn't be a requirement to have a job just to open a bank account.  You might be limited to just having a debit card though, but that's no big deal.  How about proof of address? That's where most people fail.

The trouble my wife had was proof of address, and then she was only allowed a debit card. Because I had a pension I was able to get the bank's credit card.
