Just an update to my timeline. Visa was approved and in-hand after about 7 weeks from the day it was mailed.

Details:
NON-priority
Renewal for my initial leave to remain (after being in the UK for 30 months)

2016/12/22- Mailed spousal renewal- FLR(M)
2016/12/28- Request for biometrics (letter by post)
2017/02/11- Visa approved (I never received a "decision made" email)
2017/02/15- BRP card arrived (by post) then, separately, application documents arrived

That's just about 6 weeks for NON-priority once all the documents are with them.
Best of luck to everyone!!

The in-country application process is completely different to the out-of-country process.  There are no decision made emails or priority/non-priority (just postal applications versus in-person).  Great news though!  They do a good job of staying within their promised 8 week timeline for postal applications in-country.  :)

Non Priority Spouse:

Submitted application: 1/13/17
Biometrics: 1/17/17
Mailed supporting documents: 1/20/17
Email confirmation from Sheffield: 1/27/17

Update to my timeline.

Request for Appendix 2: 1/27/17 (don't be foolish like me and forget to include it  :-[)
Sent Appendix 2 and notification that it was received: 1/29/17
Decision Email from Sheffield: 2/16/17

Eek! Now onto obsessively checking the UPS tracking instead of my email.

Honestly, no idea.  You'll have to wait and see what the visa says and then book appropriately.  Remember the date will be in U.K. format.   :)

If they honoured the date of the 24th, it's not far away!

When you send it priority, do they try and honor that "intended date?  I've been offered a teaching job job and the principal said he'd love it if I could start around April 27th. I'd likely like to arrive a week earlier to recover from jet lag. I'm planning on sending my application in within the first week or two of March.

Just curious if they look at that date and try to process everything for that hopeful arrival.

Good luck! The waiting is torture. I've played out every worst case scenario in my head.

I'm recovering from surgery so I'm not even mobile right now. I have nothing but time to think about every bad thing that could have happened.

So hoping for an early delivery tomorrow so I can move on with life already.

Hey everyone! Just shipping my application and documents off! Heres my time line

Non Priority Spousal Visa

Online Application Date: January 29
Biometrics in VT: February 16th.
Application Posted: February 17th. (estimated arrival by 12 pm on Monday)

Now the wait begins. We were going to do priority but something is wrong with VFS Global's site today and I couldn't purchase shipping or the priority. Even paid to speak to the visa centre and there was nothing they could do!!! Ended up spending nearly 400 with ups today to get it there and back... but hopefully its all worth it. thanks for all the support so far!
