My very brand new timeline.....

Married: 10 July 2010
Online Application Submitted: 24 February 2017
Biometrics Appointment: 27 February 2017

Surprised at how stressful this process has been. Even though our situation is very straightforward. We have been married a while and have one son. Husband got a job offer and we are moving to the UK. Meet financial requirements with income from US and UK job offer. WE also meet the cash savings requirement. Still panicking about filling everything out correctly but we have gone over it and over it. Husband leaves on 1 March to start his new job on the 6 march so trying to get everything at least mailed in before then!! Will update timeline as it happens....

Meet financial requirements with income from US and UK job offer. WE also meet the cash savings requirement.

Which category have you decided to apply under?

You can't apply under both Category B (his UK and UK income) and Category D (Cash Savings), so you need to pick one category, then fill out the relative section of Part 3 of the VAF4 Appendix 2 form and provide the necessary documents for that category.

If you're going with his income (Cat B), you need to provide:
- his UK job offer and/or signed UK job contract
- 12 months of his original US payslips showing he has earned at least £18,600 in total
- 12 months of his original US bank statements showing the deposit of every single payslip

OR

If you're going with cash savings (Cat D), you need to provide:
- 6 months of bank statements showing the amount of savings has not dipped below £62,500 at all during that time

If you'd like to create a new topic and post a list of all the documents you are including, we can check it to make sure you aren't missing anything :).

Applying with his income. We have his offer, pay slips, signed letter stating they are genuine, and the bank statements with every deposit. We have also included a cover letter explaining the situation and evidence of savings as other information to be included with the application.

and my final update...

Married in NYC: January 6th
Online Application Date: January 29
Biometrics in VT: February 16th.
Application Posted: February 17th. (estimated arrival by 12 pm on Monday)
Got email saying application in... but docs hadn't been received February 18th
Documents arrived: February 20th at 8:15 am
Decision Email: February 24th
Received APPROVED visa: February 27th  ;D ;D ;D ;D

They gave me a date of April 20th -May 20th, my original date was the 27th of April, we had already booked the flight with BA air miles so I think we are just going to keep that. Weird thing, and I know someone mentioned this as well before, but my letter is dated for the 22nd of February, which is 2 days before I got my decision email.

Thank you so much everyone for all of your help. I don't think I've ever been this happy. My husband is currently on a flight for work and I cant even share!!!!

Now crossing my fingers for Ricks and Mrs Mole's approvals!!!!

Hi everyone!

I have just gone through every page of this thread. I am so nervous that my muscles are shaky and tense!

My husband is from the US and we married last month. This has to be the most stressful process ever.

My timeline is as follows:

Spouse Visa NON PRIORITY
Online app submitted: 17th Feb 2017
Biometric appt: 23rd Feb 2017
Documents posted: 23rd Feb 2017
Documents delivered: 27th Feb 2017
Email confirming documents received by Sheffield: 27th Feb

Seeing the recent speedy decisions gives me hope.  Although I am worried that the current response time won't apply to us because he was denied a visitors visa (for visiting too often and wanting to stay too long). Poof of relationship though, eh?   :D

Congratulations to all of you who have been granted your visas! I hope I get to join the club soon!

I'm so curious to hear your response times since our applications arrived on the same day -- I was very conflicted about paying the priority fees and ultimately did, figuring I'd regret NOT paying them (and waiting a while) more than I would regret parting with the money.  Good luck to you -- I agree it's nerve-wracking, even when we know we meet all of the requirements!

Likewise! I will keep you updated - although our application may not be the best marker because of the visa rejection I mentioned previously!

Hopefully neither of us will have to wait too long and we both get the answer we're hoping for!

Random question but does anyone know if I have to fly out of the United States to London to activate my visa?

My parents live 2  hours from Montreal airport(I'm staying with them in Vermont during this process). We had booked out of JFK but I think it would be easy to get a lift to Montreal.

Think it's ok to fly from there directly into London Heathrow? Or does it have to be United States to London?

It's perfectly fine to fly in from Montreal - you don't have to fly directly from the country where you live/where your visa was issued.

The only country you cannot enter through is Ireland... because the UK and Ireland are both part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) and there are no immigration controls between them... which means if you fly through Ireland, you will only go through Irish immigration and not through UK immigration.

As a result, your visa will not be stamped to show what date you entered (it is illegal for UK immigration to stamp your passport if you entered through Ireland)... and you can't pick up your BRP without that stamp in your passport.
