First-time poster here but I've been reading for awhile! Thanks to all of you who have shared you stories and all the information I've been inhaling for the past several weeks. I thought I'd add my story in as yet another data point.

I'm applying for a Tier 2 visa from the US. My position was approved for a CoS on Jan 11. I went in for biometrics today (January 19), then FedEx'd the signed, completed application (and my precious passport!) overnight to the third-party firm who's handling this for me and my company. They'll submit the final application for me. It's going to be priority processing.

I currently have a start date in London of January 30, and a flight booked for Friday, January 27. Any guesses as to whether or not I'll be on it? That would require some pretty fast processing, right?? I'll keep you all posted!

It seems like it's been 11 to 13 days for the people we've heard from most recently

11-13 days! Is that for priority or standard?

It looks like it's priority from what I can tell :-(

In the grand scheme of things, it isn't that long I guess, but it's really disappointing when you've expected it to take less. To be fair, it's not possible to accurately forecast how long it will take based on past performance. Then again, who knows, maybe it'll speed up all the sudden in the next few days/week.

I hope so! Hubby missed his original start date for his new job and they have extended by two weeks but since we haven't heard any word this week regarding visa, we are again down to only having one week to get the visa or he misses that start date too! Worried the offer may be rescinded and since it pays £53000 that would be more than just an annoyance.

Sheffield received and acknowledged on Jan 3 so I hope by Jan 24 we have heard something as that would be the 15th working day......

That's pretty normal for priority processing.

When they first introduced settlement priority processing, it was a 15-working-day service - if you didn't have the visa processed within 15 working days, you were able to complain that it was taking too long.

However, so many people were using the service that a couple of years ago they changed it to 'your application will be put to the front of the queue'... so they didn't have to guarantee a decision within 15 working days anymore.

Can he not go ahead and start his job?

I typed that question out as well, but then I checked mackdowell's previous posts and it looks like he is the US applicant, so he needs the visa first before he can start the job.

Ah, I see.  Yes, that definitely changes things!

Just thought I'd jump in and also add my details:

Application Type: Fiance- Priority Settlement
Application Submitted: January 4th 2017
Biometrics Appointment: January 9th 2017
Documents Shipped (Via VFS): January 16th 2017
Documents Delivered: January 18th 2017 (8:30AM local time)

Extremely anxious and trying to keep myself busy. Kind of disappointed that I still haven't received a confirmation email (2 days feels like an eternity  :-\\\\ ) I know in the past I've read plenty of people getting their confirmation the day after it arrived, but seems like the average right now is 4 days? Sigh. better find something to keep me distracted.

Is there an average processing time once you get the confirmation email? And how soon do they typically mail it back after they're done, same day or next day?

Thanks!

I received my confirmation today, so that means:

Application Type: Fiance- Priority Settlement
Application Submitted: January 4th 2017
Biometrics Appointment: January 9th 2017
Documents Shipped (Via VFS): January 16th 2017
Documents Delivered: January 18th 2017 (8:30AM local time)
Confirmation Received: January 20th 2017 (1:00PM local time)

Guys, I'm leaving the USA in just about 48 hours. I'm anxious and going a little crazy here. For the last week, I've been saying goodbye to friends and I've packed up my life in 2 suitcases!

Everyone hang in there. Do your best to stay busy. I know I was going increasingly crazy every day that my application was in the hands of the folks at Sheffield. Praying for you all!!

Congrats! Really happy for you, and extremely impressed with their processing time.

I'm curious- do they only inform Tier 2 applications if their visa was approved in the email? All the posts Ive seen say that no information is given in the email itself, so was quite surprised that yours told you.

Anyhow, congrats again, hope you catch your flight- and dont forget to keep the rest of us in your thoughts!!!
