Bank statement, stamp and letterhead question
« on: January 29, 2017, 09:17:45 PM »
Hiya.

I'm applying for my fiance visa when I get back to the states on Thursday.

My question is about my sponsors bank statements. He went to the bank, by himself, and he had them printed off for the wrong time frame and not each page was stamped. (My fault for not being clear enough)

But then I read that each page must be printed on bank letterhead and the statements he brought home were more of a running account statement instead of individual month statements. Only the 1st page contained the bank stamp, his bank details and the Bank of Scotland letterhead. Each additional page was only numbered on the bottom and contained the date of printing and the location of the printer. No other identifying bank information besides the transactions.

What is considered to be the bank letterhead? Would the running account statement work as long as each page is stamped or is it better to have each month statement printed?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Take care,

Tami

The running account statement is fine and you might find that that's all that can be produced in branch in any case.
Have it stamped on every page and make sure it covers the full time period on which you are relying.

Thank you.

We are going to the bank on Tuesday to have them reprinted since that is his payday and we need to include that pay in the docs.

I won't stress out then if all they can print is the running statement.

Yes, it's perfectly fine. I sent the running statement stamped on each page for our last two applications. No problems at all.  :)

May I ask which bank this is? We're having an issue with a bank charging 5 pounds PER PAGE to print out monthly statements (as my fiancee has, sensibly, gone paperless). That multiplied by twelve months of statements is a horrifying cost.

That's outrageous!!!  >:(  Which bank wants to charge you 5gpp per page? :o I have heard of 5gbp per statement but never per page!  And that's for duplicate statements sent by post.
Has your fiancee tried in branch? I don't think I remember anyone saying they had to pay in branch.

And no more paperless, turn paper statements on for EVERYTHING! You will need to provide several original items of mail addressed to both/each of you for future applications.

Mine was a Halifax account.

Bank of Scotland. They didn't charge anything for printing out his statements.

Lloyd's. And yes, she has switched to paper. She did find a sympathetic ear today, but it would have cost hundreds of pounds. As if everything else doesn't cost a fortune, sigh!

So, warning for anyone else: don't go paperless if you need bank statements!

Question about the original items of mail addressed to both of us for future applications:

Is just the envelope enough, or do we need to provide the actual letter/card/paper, etc.? Just wondering how much paper we need to save.

You don't need the envelopes, you need the pieces of mail themselves; letters, statements etc

As larrabee said, it's the official piece of mail itself that you must provide - with your name(s), the date of the letter and your address clearly printed on it.

I have a question for you all about the bank statements...

My husband and I are just beginning this visa process and it SO much information, and I don't feel like there's a place to find a clear cut step by step rundown on it.

He is British and I'm America. I'll be going on a Wife Settlement or Spouse visa. We got married in 2015 and have been living here in the states since then and have decided to move to England.

He's been working here. Today was actually his last day and he's heading back to London to start working and to get an apartment etc. So would his bank statements come from here, as he's been working here over the last year?

Also, what are the bank statements being stamped with? I don't think I've read that yet....or I just completely skipped over it.

This process is so overwhelming!

You will need 12 months of bank statements (the latest one dated no more than 28 days before you apply online) showing total earnings over the 12 months (either in the US or the UK).

So it depends on the date you apply for the visa and if he's been paid yet in the UK at the time you apply.

So, say he moves to the UK on February 15th and you apply for the visa on April 15th.

You will need US bank statements covering the 10 months from April 15th 2016 to Feb 15th 2017 and then UK bank statements covering the 2 months from Feb 15th to April 15th 2017.

The official stamp of the bank.

They either need to be stamped or signed by the bank on EVERY PAGE, or accompanied by a letter from the bank confirming authenticity.

Alternatively, if the statements have been mailed to him by the bank or printed by the bank in-branch they do not need to be stamped. It's only online banking statements that you have printed at home that do need stamping.
