Private Navient Student Loans
« on: April 04, 2017, 09:36:17 PM »
Does anyone have any advice for managing large student debt ($120,000). I'm struggling to keep up with payments and would like to know if anyone has navigated repayment options. It looks like with private navient student loans there is an option to defer payment for 12 months once in the lifetime of the loan but with another 20 years left of repayments I'm nervous about using this one lifeline.

Any kind of income based repayment plan or forebearance doesnt seem to apply to private navient loans and would only help with federal loans but I would appreciate any advice.

Have you called to see about Federal consolidation? Most likely you could refinance and get into the income based repayment plan. I currently have federal backed navient loans, I am down to my last 23k and used the income based repayments and they helped keep my minimums down while I paid principal off
