Priority Service Packaging.
« on: April 05, 2017, 02:27:11 PM »
Hi Again Everyone,

So obviously my application has been sent off, and nothing further can be done about the following. However, I would like to know if, given the way I packaged my folder, the Priority Service for which I paid is likely to be acknowledged.

In his final instruction letter, my main lawyer told me to write "Settlement Priority Service" in bag black letters on the front and back of my outermost envelope.

As my application folder was very large, no envelope offered by UPS would accommodate it. Therefore, I was forced to use a 14x14x8 box, and swaddle my folder in bubble wrap within said box.

Treating my box as the "outermost envelope", I wrote "Settlement Priority Service" in large black letters on every side save the bottom. However, as I did not consider the coating of bubble wrap around my folder an "envelope" (let alone an "outermost envelope"), I left it unadorned.

My priority service receipt is the first sheet encountered upon opening the folder. Do you think, given these circumstances, my priority service is likely to be acknowledged and respected?

Thank you so much,

Rachel

It will be treated as priority, of course.

But if it wasn't written on the packaging, then it may not be opened as quickly.  But I think you said it only arrived in Sheffield today?  It can take about a week to get the confirmation email, so definitely nothing to worry about.  Last summer it was taking two months for non-priority to get their confirmation emails.  TWO MONTHS!  Just to say the package had arrived.   :-\\\\

Hiya!

To clarify, "Settlement Priority Service" was written in very large letters on the box. It was just not written on the sheet of bubble wrap in which my folder was directly swaddled INSIDE the box. I wanted to know if the labling on the box ("outermost envelope") would lead to my package's priority service being honoured/acknowledged, or if it qould be forgotten about sue to lack of writing on the direct internal bubble-wrap swaddling.

I definitely labelled the box VERY noticeably...but I do tend to second guess and worry about an awful lot.

Thank you so much for being so kind and welcoming! :)

Girl, step away from the computer.  You are worrying over absolutely nothing.  You wrote it on the packaging.  That's what you are supposed to do.   ;)

Go outside, enjoy the sun.  You won't see it again until you visit the USA.   :P

The very outside of whatever packaging is used is where the SETTLEMENT PRIORITY SERVICE should be written.
What your lawyer told you and what you did were both correct.  :)

Where there would have been a problem was if you had only written it on the inside, on the bubble wrap for instance, then the unopened box would have waited in the non-priority pile until it was opened.

The reason you write it on the outermost box is so that it is immediately seen when it arrives in Sheffield and is put into the correct pile for processing.

If they can't see the writing on the outside of the box, your application will go to the very back of the non-priority line before it is even opened, as they will not know it is a priority application.

So, as long as 'Settlement Priority Processing' is clearly visible on the outside of the box when it is delivered, it will be put in the priority processing line and will be treated as priority... even before it has been opened.
