Here is something odd.  When my documents were returned in March with a refusal, they did not send the passport photos back, so for the new application, I had new ones made.

My vignette has the first photo on it from the refused application.  I found this strange.

That's weird, because they shouldn't be using any passport photos for the vignette or BRP - it's your biometrics photo that is put on the visa now.

There's even been some debate as to whether you even need to send passport photos at all anymore, since they no longer use them for the visa photo.

That must be it.  It must be the biometrics photo.  I wonder why they ask you to send passport photos?

After sleeping for almost a solid month, I can't sleep a wink.  Probably not a bad thing, means I should be able to sleep on the plane tomorrow.  I sent John a text with a photo of the vignette and the word Approved.  He texted back that his heart started pounding.

I feel like we won a prize.

I think it's a legacy from when they did use them for the visa. They've only been using the biometrics photo for a couple of years now (I think since they started issuing the spousal visas as BRPs), but UKVI takes so long to update anything that the supporting documents list still specifies that you need passport photos.

And since they're still on the list, we suggest people still send them, just in case.

Have a good flight and safe journey (and hope you get some sleep on the plane) - you're almost there!

Approved!! They certainly made me wait. After 7pm - - that was brutal. So I asked for a leave date of July 12th and they started it July 5th. I thought you had a window of time that you had to enter within? 30 days or something? Am I thinking of something else? We couldn't find anything in the return docs.

It's really poor if you ask me.  The application asks for a travel date and states that the vignette will be made valid for 30 days from that date.

But instead for the last six months they've been making it valid for 7 days prior to the requested date.  Which is nice if you want to leave earlier but not if you wanted The dates to follow their guidelines!

Ahhhh! You guyssss - I got my package today and I was approved! I can finally tell my principal I'm not coming back next year and will officially make my flight on the 11th!

I've been having a lot of issues with my landlord (moved out on the 31st) so I'm reallyyy trying not to let it affect my last couple days in California.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has been approved (especially Katoo)! I'm hoping the rest of our group hears back very soon. Fingers crossed!  [smiley=smitten.gif]

Congratulations!!! So glad to hear this -- I know you were going through the same kind of intense anxiety I was, and I'm happy to hear we were fretting for nothing.

And hooray to everyone on the board! Enjoy the lovely reunions, and the non-stop action of administratively setting up your life in a new country. :D I feel very invested in this timeline, and hope to see the rest of the decisions made soon. So far I don't believe we've had a single refusal in the priority April group, so let's keep the acceptances coming. :)

Emailed UKVI on Friday 3rd for an update, yesterday we received a response saying that our application was Decided as of 1st June and that we'll receive further details within 10 working days of this :) Its strange that we never received any email confirmation thought.. does this fit with any other experiences on here?

Yesterday actually felt like an Oprah show with Oprah handing out vignettes.  "Here's a vignette for you!  And one for you!  And one for you!"  I think 5 came in yesterday.

Yes, we've seen that a lot. Unfortunately some are still waiting for the official decision made email/visa to arrive.
