My first post here (actually on any forum!)so not at all sure if I'm in the right spot or doing this right..
Need some information about the fiancée visa process. We used a solicitor to file all the paperwork - it was not a priority application (he seemed to think it would not save that much time) We received confirmation that application and biometrics were accepted on March 30. We have heard nothing since then. We have checked in with the solicitor a few times and he says all we can do is wait. It's been 10 weeks. It looks like others that applied priority in early April are getting answers. So my question is - is it safe to assume that the  fiancée visa process and timing is the same as a Spouse visa process and timing? Is it typical that non priority applications are a week or so behind priority? Anything you can offer is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum :).

Fiancé and spousal visas are lumped together for processing so there is no distinguishable difference between them.

However, there is definitely more than a week between priority and non-priority processing. Priority is generally taking between 3 and 6-7 weeks, while non-priority applications seem to be taking at least 3 months.

However, as you noticed there are still some outstanding April priority applications that haven't been processed yet. But, there are priority people on the May thread who already have their visas and those were processed within 15 working days. This discrepancy in processing times  is probably due to Sheffield trying to clear the backlog quickly and keep their stats up... so some of the May applications ended up being decided before the April ones.

Okay, thanks for explaining. We need it in the next two weeks as we have travel plans.  So we will be praying and checking email constantly. I can't tell from previous posts if it is an option to apply for priority this late in the process. Also, wondering how long the courier service typically takes once you get email. Oh, and is it UPS or Fed Ex? Thanks again.

Fingers crossed you hear soon :).

Officially you are not allowed to upgrade to priority after the application has been mailed - and so it's a gamble as to whether they will honour it. Someone tried to upgrade several weeks ago and they've only just got their visa.

Even if you tried it, I'm not sure it would be any quicker than just waiting... since you're already at 10 weeks anyway. Unfortunately, your solicitor gave you bad advice about priority processing - it usually shaves several weeks off the processing time, especially at this time of year.

If you purchased the shipping labels from the VFS Global website, it will be UPS 2-day shipping.

UKVI no longer accept shipping labels from FedEx and will not return any packages using them.
