Well, with the cake decorating area of the normal grocery stores. I got a pink and a gold coloured sugar at Sainsbury's, they've got a lot of options at Tesco too. I haven't looked at Morrisons though.

You'd also find it at Hobby Craft in their cake decorating area.

Try the larger Lakeland shops, last time I looked they had quite a number of coloured sugars although I am from the UK so cant testify as to whether they are adequate for you Americans or not =)

Well, Appendix 2 form is the second half of the application form - your application is not complete and they cannot process it without it.

Appendix 2 contains all the questions specific to how you meet the spousal visa requirements (relationship, accommodation and financial(:

Not sure what they mean about the accommodation report. What documents did you provide to meet the accommodation requirement?

Great news that you were asked for the missing info!

Appendix 2 is basically the meat and potatoes of the application.  Did you complete that when you sent in the application?

Where will you be living when you move here?  Is it shared accommodation?  What did you send (copy of lease, letter of permission from landlord, etc.?)

We sent the original lease.  Two bedroom flat.

Is there a form I should have filled in?

I am getting a surveyor to go our and confirm that it is big enough for the two of us etc.

No, there's no form to fill out.

Are you named on the lease?

If not, did you sent a letter from the landlord giving you permission to live there once the visa has been issued?

You don't normally need to include a Property Inspection Report, but if they are asking you to send it, I would get one done ASAP and include it.

Yes, the lease is in my name (I am the sponsor).

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly everyone.

I have been in contact with a building surveyor and he is going to send me a letter confirming everything.

Of course, we are in Saudi Arabia and the flat is in Southport, England, and they have given us ten days to submit it to Riyadh.

And my husband is retiring at the end of June and we have to leave the country then.

I am going to try not to panic.

Appreciate all the responses - thank you.

Ah, okay - in that case, is the lease in his name too?

Basically, unless you are both named on the lease, you should also include a letter from the landlord giving the visa applicant permission to live in the property.

Only me on the lease - but I am the sponsor and do not have a mortgage so surely I do not have to invite him to live with me?  If you think I do, I will put in a covering letter from myself?????  Do you think that would do?

Another question - if this is all they are asking for - are they likely to ask for anything else or is that it???

Hang on, are you renting or do you own the property?

You will only have a lease if you are renting it (a tenancy agreement).

If you rent, you need to include:
- tenancy agreement
- letter from the landlord giving the applicant permission to live there (since they can't legally be on the lease yet)

If you own the property, you need to include:
- your Land Registry document showing you are the homeowner
- latest mortgage statement if you have a mortgage
- you don't need to write a 'letter of permission' specifically, but your sponsor letter would state that you own it and will live there together.

I really have no idea why they're asking for a property inspection though, especially if you own it.

Another question - if this is all they are asking for - are they likely to ask for anything else or is that it???

They should just send the one email. However, if you realise you have left anything else out you could always include it as well, just in case they will consider it.

It is a flat and a lot of flats you buy are leasehold.  I own it as in I have paid off the mortgage and am free to sell it etc.  I do not pay rent, but I do pay a service charge to cover the communal areas etc.  I do not need permission to have anyone else live there with me.

I have also submitted to them the 2017 Council Tax charge, which is in my name.

I have submitted the original deeds to the flat showing my name.

In my covering sponsor letter I stated that I owned the flat and that we would be living there.

I know leasehold and free hold can be confusing.  It is quite common in the UK to have flats which are leasehold.

I am assuming they just want to know if it is big enough to accommodate myself and hubby?????

I will add anything else I can think off to the package when I send it off.

Really appreciate you all taking the time to reply.

Okay, the deeds are fine and if there's no mortgage that's fine too.

The council tax bill does not prove ownership so it probably won't have any bearing on the application.

It's strange because normally what you have sent would be perfectly fine for the visa and no property inspection report would be required. Maybe it's something to do with it being leasehold, but not sure.

However, since they are asking for one, I'd get it done anyway.

And definitely complete Appendix 2 because it is an automatic refusal if you don't include it.

So sorry to be so stupid - what is appendix 2?  Do we need to fill something in?  At least we have the opportunity to provide them with additional info and they haven't just dismissed it.

I am going to assume they were happy with the financial requirement (sent 7 months of bank statements, on bank letter headed paper, stamped and signed by the bank).  Sent a letter from the company stating that we are living in company housing and have been for years.  We had to send copies of our residence permits and our company IDs.

You can't live in Saudi unless you are sponsored - it is a closed country.

And to be married here you have to have your marriage certificate translated into Arabic, and attested by the Saudi Embassy in the country where it was issued.  So the fact that I am here and have been for years must carry some weight????  They do not allow visitors etc unless they are sponsored.  The country is a closed country and not easy to get into. We sent a couple of photographs of our wedding.

I was thinking that we needed more evidence of a "real" relationship and so was expecting them to come back asking for that (and so have been gathering various documents) so am surprised that they want more proof of accommodation.  So when we send the surveyors letter to them I will add all the relationship stuff we have.

At least they didn't just deny it.

There is no alcohol in Saudi but I am going over to Bahrain next week and will have a large glass of wine!

I am trying to imagine what it will be like when all this is behind us!

Appreciate all the input here!
