I think it surprised me more because getting my husband his Green Card was much more painless. We applied from within the US and he was here on the Visa Waiver, I think it took like 6 weeks for everything to be processed!

Hi AmericanMom!  :)
I happen to think that people who have been through the visa process in the past, either a US visa or a UK one before the rules change, are at a bit of a disadvantage because this new application is comparatively SO much harder.

Glad you found us, at least you'll have plenty of company during your wait.  :)

Oh, my goodness! We didn't pay for priority because I figured it wouldn't make that much of a difference. I wonder how much longer it takes for non-priority.

Currently, priority is about 5 weeks and non-priority seems to be around 3 months... although last summer it got so busy that NON-priority shot up to 4-5 months.

At the moment, people who applied non-priority at the end of February are just starting to get their decisions now, which means we don't really know how long it will take for non-priority applications that were submitted in April or May.

Edited: to correct my priority/non-priority mistake

Yeah, unfortunately last years non-priority May applications weren't processed until September.  And unfortunately processing times seem to be worse this year.  But honestly proc swing times have changed so much in the past year it's hard for us to predict very accurately anymore.  With a bit of luck, they'll keep on this 2.5 months current time line and not slow down more.

I got my rejection so fast (within 3 weeks), so I'm trying to just stay positive. I'd rather they take their sweet time and just approve everything. In the meantime I'm going to try and eat all the American food I can and enjoy time with my parents.

Just worried about my oldest, who is with her dad in the UK. We had plans for a vacation in July but now I don't know if that'll work out. Hopefully someone can offer me advice on what to do if we get close to the date without any word.

Once a decision has been made, do they send you the decision letter and your passport/passport with visa back together? Also it sounds like they do not tell you whether you are successful or not in the decision email - you have to wait for the letter to turn up. That just sounds mean to me...

Currently trying to pass the time and not spend too much money!

The email just says that a decision has been made, and usually is followed up shortly with another email with the tracking info inside.  You might already know it, because you will have purchased the label already, but they confirm the tracking number.

Then the package arrives with a decision letter and your passport, which has the vignette inside.  Once you go through UK immigration and get stamped in by them, you go to the post office to pick up your actual visa, which is a biometric residence permit card.

Some people have said that the package comes back with just your letter and passport, and your docs come back in another package, but mine all came back together.
Spouse Visa:
Received by Sheffield 19 Nov 2016
Decision Made 26 Jan 2017
Visa Received 30 Jan 2017
Arrived in UK 15 Feb 2017
FLR (M) Biometrics 16 Sep 2019
FLR (M) Approved 17 Sep 2019 (Super Priority)

When you apply for FLR from within the UK you will get two different shipments a day apart. I've not heard of any initial settlement visas happening that way.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

I do have a questions that maybe someone can help me with. I've been reading thought this May timeline, and I see that people are mentioning that their bank statements were stamped at the bank.  Im worried because I printed my bank statements from my online banking, and then highlighted the income that matches the monthly pay stub. Was this wrong?!?! I saw that I needed bank statements, but didn't realize that had to be stamped by the bank. Kind of freaking out because I know thats a huge part of the application. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?!
