Just got my package. I was approved, my daughter was not just like I feared. I have a letter addressed to me explaining the brp etc but absolutely nothing explaining her refusal. I don't know what to do now.

They HAVE to include a refusal letter, stating the reasons for refusal and telling you whether you have the right to appeal.

Are you sure there isn't just an approved visa in her passport with no letter?

Not all visa approvals receive a letter with them (it depends on the visa type)... sometimes you just have to look through the passport to find the visa. Also, they may have just sent one BRP letter to cover both visas.

Edited to add:
See page 25 of this refusals guidance. It lists the different wording they must include if a visa has been refused:

i have my letter for BRP with all my info on it. my passport was open to the vignette.

hers was open to the first page and contains nothing, no vignette etc. ive been through all our papers seeing as how my letter was just randomly stuffed in. there's nothing. so now i have zero explanation or how to fix it. the only thing i noticed was that when i sent in my previous divorce papers they were out of order and the parenting plan for my son was on top. my SON WHO IS RESIDING WITH HIS FATHER. which i clearly explained multiple times with multiple documentation as that is required when you fill out everything and if you have more than one child including children who do not reside with you and will not be coming to the uk with you. absolutely broken right now. if i had a direction on this i would be ok. I have zero idea on what to do from here. I f***ing hate HATE ukvi. guess ill just get on a [lane and go get my crap then come back here and figure hers out somehow. I cant think.

You've checked every page of her passport?

If there's no visa and no letter at all, I would contact UKVI directly at visashefo@fco.gov.uk and ask them what has happened. It may just be a mistake on their part.

There is no number to call. Whatever you do, DO NOT call the enquiry line.

As I said above, you need to email UKVI Sheffield directly at the following email address:

VISASHEFO@fco.gov.uk

Follow ksand's advice and reference your daughters application reference number as well.

Are you 100% sure that two pages of the passport haven't stuck together from the vignette?

We've never heard of them not including a refusal letter before, so this is likely an admin error.

I've checked and rechecked every part of her passport and every bit of paper that was haphazardly piled into the ups bag. my letter was stuck in the back before the copies of things. I wouldn't have seen it if I weren't looking for her refusal letter. I've been through everything at least 10 times now.

Plus there's the added fun bit that anyone underage can only pick up a BRP with a "Responsible Adult" (parent or guardian) but ONLY if that adult is picking up their BRP at the same time....unless the HOme Office approves them to accompany the child otherwise. and approval for that takes up to a week according to the info in my letter.

I guess for now our plan is that I fly there, pick up my BRP then come back here in a week and sort her out. I don't know what else to do. I can't take the chance that my vignette expires before she's sorted and then having to wait on that and apply fo r a vignette transfer etc. This is such a mess. I want to rage cry right now.

Im so upset. I was hoping they had just messed up with the IHS but I knew in my gut she was refused for some reason. I'm so tired of this.

Please don't be upset - it sounds like you included all the information you needed to and if your visa was granted, there is no reason why your daughter's wouldn't also be granted (unless you didn't show £22,400 in income to cover her as well).

UKVI have messed up a few applications recently and I suspect this is an error on their end. Most likely because they are short-staffed, overworked, and they have probably hired new people who don't really know what they are doing.

For example:
- recently someone here applied for a spousal visa plus 3 child dependant visas... two of the child dependant visas were issued correctly, but the third was issued as a visitor visa!
- someone else received a visa vignette that had already expired because it took Sheffield a whole month to return the passport
- Sheffield seem to have 'lost' another applicant's passport when they applied for a replacement vignette
- someone's child dependant visas was issued without them having to pay the IHS
- someone was issued an unmarried partner visa instead of a fiance visa... and they didn't even qualify for the unmarried partner visa in the first place!

I wouldn't be so hasty at the moment. I'd wait for a reply from Sheffield before you fly to the UK to pick up your BRP.

You don't want to go there, pick up yours, then fly back and find you should have waited for her visa first so you could collect the BRPs together.

Im hoping that's the case. I kinda feel like the fact that the way the papers were turned etc in regareds to my parenting plan with my son's father (whom i was married to and it's included in my divorce decree etc etc) is that some idiot has looked at that and thought it referenced my daughter instead of actually reading names etc. especially since my BRP letter was dated Oct 4, the day after I received an email that I had been placed in Priority. I sorta also ffeel like you said because they're trying to provide super fast turnarounds theyve messed up. I provided ALL the relevant information for her including a very detailed explanation of the situation regarding both her and her father and my son and ex husband. We more than meet the financial requirement so I know it's not that. IDK. it's all stupid. GRRRRRRR

They still have to include a refusal letter if that was the case. I wonder if maybe they approved both but just forgot to ask for the IHS surcharge, and then the vignette and BRP letter for her visa were not printed... or something to that affect.

It only takes 1-2 hours to make a decision, so it could well be that your application was processed and decided right after you got the priority email (like they picked it up, sent the email and processed it right there and then).

Exactly - if you meet all the requirements and you provided all the documents to prove it, they HAVE to issue the visa... because there will be no grounds on which to refuse it.

And if they do find grounds to refuse, they HAVE to include a letter explaining why and what your legal options are... and that letter should then be included with all future visa applications as evidence of the refusal.

By the way, the same thing happened to this person back in 2013 - they applied for a spousal visa from Thailand and it came back with nothing - no visa, no refusal letter: https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/638768-uk-settlement-application-no-visa-no-refusal-letter/

Turned out UKVI made a mistake - the visa had been approved, but for some reason the visa hadn't been put in the passport. They sent the passport back to UKVI and got it back with the approved visa within a few days.

Hello everyone, for the ease of updating the spreadsheet (and so I don't have to flip back through the thread because it's hard on my phone) can I get the following people to tell me if they have received and the date they received the decision email from Sheffield:

@Mitch-9
@j2j
@acquiesce213
@Rosechassit

And any updates from:
@NeishNk
@Mhairi8504
@Poliphilus

Will update the sheet when I have a free moment from work :)
