Really getting to me today this waiting for who knows how long so folded and phoned the call centre with a desperate hope of your decision has been made message ala Mr Brit & j2j recently and just to feel vague sense of actually doing something proactive

No luck though, the nice man went through the I’ll escalate this to the centre chat and told me to call back in 20 days if not heard anything

This process is a special kind of torture at times it really is

Hoping to hear some good news from our other red people to cheer me up a bit 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

nothing here.. my husband called yesterday and there was no decision. He followed up with his MP office and was told that HO's response to their enquiry was that the decision is still pending since it is a "difficult" case. I would love to know what's so difficult about it but of course there isn't a way for me to find out.

His call last week was followed by an email a day or 2 later, which seemed rude and stated something along the lines of not knowing when a decision will be made bc my application is not straightforward, which scared me. I've been trying to think of it as a generic email bc after all, I did receive the Oct 31 email and really have faith that it will be honored.

Actually, the guidelines for the application DO ask for such documents and the visa will be refused without them. Though, I agree that that should not have caused your application to be considered non-straightforward.

The guidance in VAF4A.pdf and VAF4A-Appendix2.pdf ask for no such thing.
Application: Settlement → Settlement → Fiancé (non priority)
Applied in: Canada (Vancouver)
Biometrics: 27 April
Non-straightforward notice: 19 July (day 58!)

Decision email: 20 November (day 145!)
Return courier tracking: DHL 20 November
Visa issued: 22 November

Why are you splitting hairs when ksand is correct and provided the links to the guidance?

It would have been nice of you to thank her for sharing her expertise.  :)

The guidance in VAF4A.pdf and VAF4A-Appendix2.pdf ask for no such thing.

The guidance in those forms just tells you how to complete the questions. They are not supposed to tell you what documents to send... because that information is given in the supporting documents guidance, Appendix FM 1.7 and Appendix FM-SE instead.

Gone fairly quiet in here. I think Sheffield are taking a breather, refuelling and getting ready to go again.

Expersts need advice. My lovely American wife handed in her notice at the office today. Her employer was deeply saddened and has suggested that they are happy for her to fly over to sort out stuff here in the UK (BRP etc) and have offered to fly her back just for two further weeks to nyc to wrap things up at work ( all expense paid) and take her on as a consultant for two extra weeks to finish off a project.

My question is, if she flys into London for a week or so, picks up her BRP and then flies back to the US for two weeks before moving indefinitely here, will this in any way impact any future applications (FLR, ILR, Citizenship)

Advice greatly appreciated !

Thank you :-)

Nope, not at all. Once she has her BRP, she is free to travel as she pleases.

It's common to return to the US after collecting the BRP as a lot of people still have some things to tie up before they can properly move... in some cases, they go back to the US for 2-3 months - to finish jobs, pack up their belongings, even sell their house - before returning to the UK.

Thanks ksand! Exactly what I thought! Well it’s up to to her they have given her the option to fly her back and keep her on for a further two weeks or so just so she can close off her project (I married a smart one clearly lol)

Well, we received a reply from the mp regarding my daughter. She's been refused as they state that I have not provided irrefutable evidence that I have sole responsibility and custody. I don't know what to do with that. There is nothing in TN that I have ever had to do regarding that because we were never married and so I automatically have full everything. This is not unexpected but very upsetting nonetheless because now I have to find a way to have a court document stating that I have full custody of my daughter etc. More time more expense. I don't know. Just overall disappointed. Don't know when I will get to be in the UK permanently now.

At least knowing what was missing in the application means that you have a head start on correcting it.
Are you able to get a letter from the father giving you permission to take your child to the UK?
