Do you have to send an email back to them with the evidence or do you have to send more documentation via post/courier?

"Please send this document as a scanned attachment within 5 working days to xxxx quoting your application reference in the subject line. Please attach the document directly to the email as we are unable to access links to files hosted on sites such as Dropbox™ or Google Drive™."

It's an email that they have requested. Hey experts, does this actually need to be a scanned document or can I just create a PDF for them since this is all digital material anyway?

If they have asked for a scanned attachment, that's what I'd give them. You don't want to give them any reason to say you didn't produce what they have asked for.

I guess I just don't know how to make it a scanned document.... they want our chat logs. Do I put these all into a document, print it, and then scan it?

Here's the entire email to help out:

The UK Decision Making Centre is currently assessing the application submitted by the above named. We are unable to conclude the application at this time as we require additional information.

Please provide the following documents:

Further evidence of contact between you and your husband eg. photographs, call logs, social media contact, text messages etc.

Please send this document as a scanned attachment within 5 working days to xxxx quoting your application reference in the subject line. Please attach the document directly to the email as we are unable to access links to files hosted on sites such as Dropbox™ or Google Drive™.

Kind regards,

I think so. Scan it then attach to the email although that seems redundant if you can just attach the document. So that's probably all you need to do.
Sorry, I'm not very tech savvy!

Looks like I'm taking a trip to Kinko's tonight as I have neither a color printer or a scanner. Wooooo.  ;D

I've taken screenshots of our entire whatsapp call history, I've taken a 2 screen shots of every month since we met (in whatsapp), I've taken screenshots from FB messenger even though we don't talk there often, I've taken screenshots in Skype back to April 2017 since that's when I got a new phone and can't go back any further, and I will do some more photos.

Does this seem like enough? They already have some Skype logs, our marriage certificate, photos, and all of our flights to see one another.

Just a tip which you may already know but when you’re putting your screenshots onto a doc, make sure to use narrow margins.

Also, I used one drive since I don’t have office because you can just right click to hit grow or shrink to adjust your image size which was super helpful

This is why I'm wondering if I actually need to scan it or if I can just get this all set up as a PDF and then send it over to them. It would actually be clearer and easier to read for them that way and with photos, if I had a really good photo scanner, they would actually never know if it were a PDF or if it were scanned photos. I only say this as it seems faster to just create PDFs for them and they'd be easier to read for UKVI since I'm going to need to shrink these screenshots so that I don't have to send them 50 pages of screenshots.

I think when they ask for scanned documents they just mean that you don’t need to physically mail your original documents to them, but instead you can scan them in and email them.

If they are already electronic documents on your computer, I imagine you would be fine to just create a PDF and attach it to the email.

In terms of how much to send, I wouldn’t send too many pages. Normally we say no more than 2 pages for each communication type, but since they have specifically requested more documents I would probably send a few more than that, just to be thorough :).

They do specify attach as a scanned doc, but, it really seems so redundant in this case. They may have used the term scanned for the photos or old school call logs perhaps?

Good luck with your providing evidence, so glad to hear your ECO asked for more info

Thanks ksand! (and of course larrabee!) - Obviously, I'm of the mind to throw the kitchen sink at them right now to ensure that they get everything that they need. I figure a few pages of each type of communication will probably be good - maybe 4 pages? I plan on just sending another page of photos since I can get those jam packed onto one page (I actually already have this as I made my husband a collage of photos of us as a gift - he asked for it, I'm not that vain, hahaha).

I had a feeling the last few days that I didn't send enough to prove our relationship and lo and behold, I did not! Really grateful that they emailed asking for the evidence rather than outright denying us.

Long story short, but I'm a pro at getting screenshots together for things like this as I once had a stalker and had to do all of this to get a restraining order. Funny how I have to send the same type of documentation to prove a relationship as I did to prove that someone was stalking me. The irony of it all.

Got an email this morning, they want further proof of our relationship and are specifically asking for social media. Odd, but I'm happy as there's movement on it and they didn't deny us as apparently I didn't include enough relationship evidence (I sent flights, skype logs, photos of us together, and a marriage certificate).

What a relief to know that somebody is actually looking at your file already! Good luck bisousdarling!

I would place another vote for saving as a PDF and attaching being totally fine. A scan would create a jpeg most likely and there’s no way for them to either know nor care how you got the electronic the file, as long as it’s not mailed in and is attached, not a link.

In other progressive news (I can’t say good news exactly, just that things seem to moving) my husband’s MP’s office was able to get some info from the Home Office a month after he emailed them. All they said was that they have my application in progress (and gave confirmation of specific dates I submitted things, etc) but we just need to be patient. So, those of us with similar timelines seem to be getting some action at long last!
