Unfortunately you can’t upgrate to priority after you’ve mailed in your application.

That line will tell you anything you want to hear. It's not an accurate source of information unfortunately. :(

DEFINITELY don't ring the call line (I refuse to call them a help line as they don't help).  They are a third party outsourced call line who have NO access to UKVI systems and have NO authority to say if the application will be treated as priority if you upgrade after you've posted the application.  As Margo said, they will likely just tell you what you want to hear.

My husband rang last week to ask if we could upgrade to premium because he is tired of waiting! (Today is BD 35) He was told that they don't allow that  :-\\\\

I agree that the waiting is terrible! Hang in there and hopefully we all get good news soon  :)

I know how painful the waiting can be.  Much like you, I regretted going non-expedited so my husband called UKVI and we were informed that once the biometrics were submitted, you cannot retroactively upgrade to expedited.  This was prior to joining this forum, which would have probably swayed my decision to call.  I'm currently on day 42...Hang in there.  ;)

This is the official information on upgrading.  :)

Can I purchase Priority Visa Service/Settlement Priority Visa Service if I have already mailed my application at the UKVI Consulate?

No, you cannot purchase the Priority Visa Service/Settlement Priority Visa service once you have mailed your application to the respective UKVI Consulate for processing.

You and I have the same biometrics date and I'm starting to think it will be close the full 60 as well.  There are quite a few of us (four I think) that all had biometrics done the first couple weeks of February. I'm so hopeful that the decision made emails start rolling in for us!
