Approved!  However, my vignette starts on May 22nd. Not sure where that date is coming from.

However, I called my husband to tell him the good news and he said he was in an ambulance being taken to the hospital for chest pains. I’m a nervous wreck. Is there any way they would allow me in earlier?

I hope everything is ok! I would wait until you know more about your husbands condition before trying to jump through hoops though. (full disclosure - My husband ended up rushed to the hospital while my visa was processing for a panic attack, so thankfully everything was fine. Genuinely hope it's something equally benign for yours!)

If you need to be there ASAP I would contact his MP, or possibly you could go as a visitor and then leave the country to get a visa stamp after the vignette start date. (the experts here can correct me if the latter part of that isn't possible)

Oh dear.

I agree.  Sit tight and find out what the status is.  You’ll be a nervous wreck if you simply headed straight to the airport.

If you need to come before the vignette becomes valid, have a return flight back out of the UK booked.  You’ll need a solid story and quite a bit of paperwork on you, but will likely be let in on a tourist stamp.

What date did you request for travel dates?

Keep us posted on your husband!

I requested a travel date in April so I was so puzzled why they gave me a date in the future.  Thank you for your advice.  I guess I could try to do a return to the US or would it be possible to go to France (have family there) for a week or so in between.

If the date has passed, they usually make the vignette for a week in the future.  Not sure why yours was more than that.

Keep us posted!

My email came to me at about 3 am eastern time but I think it varies. Apparently my decision was made May 8th and my email came out the next morning. Good luck!

Just to update everyone...my husband is out of the hospital. It wasn’t a heart attack but yet a long condition called pleurisy, which is a lung condition. Apparently the sharp pains mimick a heart attack. Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes.

My vignette date starts May 22 so I will be leaving Atlanta on the 21st.

I would like to give an enormous thank you to  everyone here for the guidance, patience and kind encouragement. I am truly grateful. ♥️

Oh, that's such a relief! Not that pleurisy's a joke, but better than the alternative!
Thanks for letting us know!  :)

Thanks for the update!  I’m glad it wasn’t quite as scary as originally feared.  Not long now until you are by his side!

Pleurisy is super painful! Glad he was taken care of so quickly and will be on the mend, I'd been thinking about you and was hoping no news meant he was ok. Safe travels
