Check the other parts of the forum! We have lots of cats, some kites and other fun discussions going. And, there's a lot of small things that are sometimes challenging with the move and the other boards are great for asking questions :)

Absolutely!  Don't leave just when you'll really need us.  My favourite sections are Food Talk, Chit Chat, and The Airing Cupboard, where we talk about things that only fellow expats would understand (and a lot of other random stuff).

Read the Costco thread with caution...  it’s not REALLY about Costco.   ;D

The information is at this link: https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number

I don't know if all of us have to do it, or if it's random, but I had to attend a JobCentre Plus office to do the application, and it was a bit of an ordeal.  You have to go to certain offices, not necessarily just your nearest (I was living near Salisbury at the time, and had to go to either up to Swindon or down to Southampton).

I think you have to go if you are on a FLR(M). The people applying for their visa from outside the UK can do it by post.

I've been cautiously browsing because I didn't want to get my hopes up but now excited to really check other parts of the forum out :)

Isn't your national insurance number suppose to be on the back of your brp?. I was informed from the ukvi when I pick it up my N.I would be on their. Im moving to london around elephant castle. When I think of England, I think only of london and assume that's where everyone lives. I'm working on getting more educated about England and places outside of london because that's all I know lol.

Think that's only if you're on a work related visa, otherwise you have to go ahead and apply for one.

The BRP collection letter (instructions) from UKVI says some BRP’s will already have the NINo on the back, in the Remarks section. But mine didn’t have one. So I went to the Job Center Plus yesterday to apply for a NINo. Interview took 5 mins.

Anyway congrats on all the approvals this week!

He doesn’t need to go to the JobCentre... he just needs to call the number in the link given above and ask to apply for an NI number. They will mail him the application form and tell him whether or not he needs to go to a Job Centre for an interview.

If he doesn’t need an interview, then he just fills out the form when it arrives and mails it back, then he waits for the NI Number to be issued.
