It only counts Monday through Friday of the working week. The keyword is working week so this excludes weekends as well as public holidays which can fall on a weekday.

Hi All, I'm new here but have been following this thread for a while.   My partner and myself put in our visa application back in March and received confirmation that it had been received in Sheffield on the 30th March 2017.  We are still awaiting a decision and despite planing the wedding for the 12th of July, still haven't heard anything.  Is there any way to check on the status of an application.  Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Hi ECCHO!

First and foremost, welcome to the NP side!

Supposedly, this visa application status checker is to help you see the status of your app: https://contact-ukvi.homeoffice.gov.uk/app/visa_application/checkvisastatus

I say supposedly because it is in BETA, brand new, and it works for some people and not others.

I'm not too sure how else to check the status of your visa besides that. I would advise against calling the call centre as they seem to be a waste of time/money.

You could try contacting your MP to see if they can speak to Sheffield on your behalf. I think some users say to wait till waiting day 60 before doing that.

Link: http://www.parliament.uk/get-involved/contact-your-mp/

Another user asked about it here: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=90889.0

Apart from those options, I don't know of anything else to do besides wait. Unfortunately, the average wait for NP is about 53 days, but many users heard around the 55 wait day range. So there is the possibility that you could hear this week.

Thank you,

I looked at the tracker just then and have tried both numbers I've had, one being the GWF and one being the VAF number but to no avail.  The waiting is super tough but like you said hopefully we will hear something soon.  What numbers does everyone else use to track?

Thanks

I think the majority of people tried the GWF and IHS reference numbers. Again, it is in BETA so there's no knowing if it will actually work for everyone.

Thanks Solaire,

I tried my gwf number but haven't got an ihs number so guess I'm back to waiting again.  Sigh.  Oh well.

Hi ECCHO,

You should have received an IHS number when you paid for your NHS service. Check through your emails.

However, even using the IHS number I have had no luck with that visa status link.

Hope you hear something soon.

Not if they've applied for a fiancé visa - there is no IHS fee for visas valid 6 months or less because you are not entitled to 'free' NHS care on those visas (and a fiancé visa is valid for 6 months).

ECCHO mentioned getting married in July, so I assume they are applying for a fiancé visa.

If you applied for a settlement visa, you had to pay for the IHS surcharge. You should have an IHS reference number on an email confirming that you made payment.

A good number of people on here applied for settlement/spousal visas so they should have gotten this email as confirmation of payment.

I do not think (PLEASE OH MIGHTY FORUM GODS CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG) fiance(e) visa applicants would have this reference number since they do not pay for IHS as the visa is for six months (ref: https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application/overview ). Or that is what I read

That's correct, solaire129.

- For spousal/unmarried partner/civil partner visa applications (and dependants) you must pay an IHS surcharge of £600 per application

- For fiance/proposed civil partner visa applications, you DO NOT PAY an IHS surcharge, because there is no 'free' NHS coverage allowed on those visas. Instead, you must purchase private health/travel insurance to cover you until you have FLR(M)

Ah yes, that is right! Forgot about that fiance vs spouse visa difference with the NHS.

Welp today is 8 weeks since my 'docs received' email from Sheffield. Hope springs eternal and all that, but I'm feeling like this:
