Thanks for this info TimCypher, lets hope they've learned!

Yes indeed...

My partner is a first-half-of-May applicant, so we're all primed up really to get crushed in the Summer stampede.

I was originally thinking we might hear something by early / mid August, but I'm now thinking September, especially if we get an 'application not straight forward' e-Mail, which could mean you'll be waiting more like 4-6 months.  Then again, it could mean a decision is imminent, going by some people's timelines.

Going by the Home Office stats for Q2 applications last year, 27% of apps fell into that category:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/international-operations-transparency-data-november-2017

Of the rest, 85.5% were processed within service standards.

I suppose there's still a chance the numbers might be on our side!  :)

Honestly?  There's always "something" happening each year.  The lengthened waits over summer happen each year.  They just seem to get a bit longer each year unfortunately.  I genuinely feel it's due to sheer volume, cost cuts, and moving more and more responsibility to Sheffield.

This years excuse will be the Windrush scandal.

I can just imagine that.

Theoretically, folks affected by the 'Windrush' scandal won't be going through Sheffield as Sheffield is the decision center for applications originating from outside the UK.  I might be wrong about that, but that was impression I had.

The staff dealing with Windrush have to come from somewhere though, so some may be diverted from Sheffield.

They'll always use something as an excuse.

Next summer will likely be a nightmare with Brexit and those who are currently on PR having to apply for whatever they have to apply for (unknown at this time).

That's true...oh cripes!

So, looking like this Summer may well be the 'worst summer ever' for settlement applications, until next year, that is...

We really don’t know at this point.

Currently non-Priority applications are taking about 60-65 working days. Based on previous years, this is likely to increase in July and August, but until it happens, we won’t know how long they will actually take.

That would have been triggered from the original email query.  They aren't the most organised...

It's the most nervous time but no, not at all! Congratulations!

Congratulations :D!

Refusals take longer than approvals (because if the visa falls for refusal, they will spend more time going over the documents), so getting your decision after 'only' 54 BD is more likely to mean good news than bad news :).
