Stay on your cloud.  Truly, worst case scenario she gets a second passport and flys to and from Spain.  That really is worst case.  That’s not too bad.  :)

And if you think wives are expensive.... just wait until you have a kid or two.  We do well financially and we are broke as a joke with the cost of childcare!     [smiley=laugh4.gif]

Yes, I've heard that too... I clearly haven't thought this whole thing through.   ::)

I'm going to skulk off and try and hold my nerves until 60 BD when I'll likely return with a vengeance. I don't think worrying myself and my wife on a daily basis is doing us any favours!

Thanks for all your help and good luck to everyone waiting for your visas! Sending positive vibes to you and Sheffield.

That definitely works best for some people.  :)  But if you change your mind and could do with some support, you know where to find us!   :)

Massive congratulations!  Such an overwhelmingly happy relief feeling when that visa finally comes through, isn't it?  Even when you think you're prepared for it, you find out you can't possibly prepare for it.  Yay!

Completely agree with all of that.  I feel like a released prisoner.  ;)

So much still to do, but this evening’s been quite productive.  My partner gave notice at work, we gave notice on our flat, lots of excited conversations with family and friends, and we booked an extra ticket with BA for the flight I had already booked for myself to head back to the UK.  Luckily they hadn’t sold out, but it was not an inexpensive fare.

Frankly, I didn’t care how much it cost.  I’m just glad we are finally at the end of all this, until FLR(M) that is...

Ooh, you get to travel back together! This makes me very happy.  Yay!

As for FLR(M), when the time comes I think you'll find it's much MUCH easier.  You can both be together for it, you can count both incomes to meet the requirements, and you've done a successful visa application already, so you know kind of what to expect!  The first one is the hardest, and now you have that out of the way.

Indeed - it's worked out quite well really.

I normally fly over in the summer period for visiting purposes and also to pay my share of the rent for our flat, so I booked my flights as per usual back in June when BA had an offer on.  But, this time, I did pay extra to get a semi-flexible ticket on the return leg just in case (i.e. they let you change the return date, but for a fee), but it looks like I don't need to do that now.

Still not sure whether they're going to be able to sit us together.  You see, to get a semi-flexible ticket, I had book in a higher class of cabin, which was affordable back in June, but is eye-wateringly expensive now - as in thousands of pounds.  I'm hoping that BA will flash up an upgrade offer (preferably with miles), or we'll be able to do something at the airport.  Though, my better half holds the view that flight upgrades are a total waste of money and probably won't let me splash out anyway...

Yeah, I've taken some snapshots of ksand24's rather splendid document checklists for FLR (M).  One of the first things I'll be doing when I get home is investing in a shiny new 'correspondence box' to retain all the acceptable mail items we receive over the next few years.  I've already switched my bank statement preferences to paper, which, in truth, I wish I'd known to do ahead of the entry clearance application.  Would have saved a big printing and stamping exercise at the bank, which, to be fair, the staff were happy to help with.

Change everything (or, at least three sources) to paper!  And get both nmes on as many official things as you can.  For me, the correspondence was the part I always struggled with the most.

Hi All,

I'm new here. Happy to have found this forum! I'm just waiting for my wife's Visa to be approved coming from US. 51 days now since Docs received at Sheffield on standard and patiently waiting!
Hope all are well.

Hahaha the club no one wants to be in but nonetheless find comfort in others in the same unfortunate position as yourself! Hearing from people with experience does help also! I was absolutely fine until about 50 days but nerves are kicking in a bit now! Still, must stay optimistic! :-)
