You've literally written you emailed them... Facepalm

Thanks! I'll take the hit and try the same.

Haha sometimes the finer details go unnoticed!   ;D
It's each to their own. But for 5.48 or whatever it's not going to break your bank account. I didn't "escalate". Just asked a question. They gave me a pretty quick answer.

My excuse was it was one of the first things I looked at this morning...

So what's the process? Can I ask on behalf of my wife as it's her Visa and what details will I need to provide them? e.g. case number, name, passport number.

Thanks for the hope! It's much needed.

It's a good excuse! I barely function first thing in the morning!

Type in "contact UK visas and immigration and click the second link on the gov.uk website (i'm not sure if I'm allowed to paste links on the forum!). It just guides you through a process and asks for info such as DOB, GWF Number, passport no. etc of application. yes you can do it on her behalf as I figure they dont give much away so it's a workaround on the privacy issue I imagine!

Ha no problem! I hope I can give you some better hope soon!

Honestly, we do not recommend using the contact centre at all. Although we understand that it helps if you feel you are doing something, all that you will be doing in reality, is making yourself that bit poorer.

Certainly accept that bit of advice. although 5.48 seemed like a reasonable investment to feel like you're doing something! Certainly wouldn't call the helpline though....

It's extortion!  We didn't recommend getting in touch with them before they started charging!

They have been giving incorrect advice for years, mainly because they are a random call centre nowhere near Sheffield with no access to your application. As larrabee said, we always warned against contacting them even when the emails were free, and now that they charge an extortionate amount for it, we definitely do not advise emailing them.

Personally, I would take anything they tell you with a pinch of salt. They have in the past told people a decision had been made when in reality their application hadn’t even been looked at yet.

Unless you get a decision made email from Sheffield directly (which should be sent out within a few hours of the decision being made), I would assume your application has not been processed yet.

The whole process is extortion! Imagine how much money the combined members of this group alone have given to UKVI lol. Then you have the outsourced parts, VFS, call center etc. Doing our bit for capitalism too! The old classic Love Tax.

Thanks for the note. Will certainly be taking it with a pinch of salt. Does sound like a pretty abysmal service.

I'm not defending the cost of an application but at least at the end of the process, if you've done it correctly, you'll come out of it with your visa.
You will have nothing at all to show from getting in touch with the contact centre except a slightly lighter wallet!

Fair enough. I messaged them at the beginning of the process (before I'd found this forum) and the response I got was so generic and didn't attempt to address the questions I asked in any way what so ever. I knew then it was a scam.

We're on BD 54 today to I'll wait until the end of next week before I start taking drastic action and chucking fivers into the ether.

 ;)

Where there's a will there's a way I guess...

Maybe not the wisest move though, I'm sure there's a law against trying to influence government officials.
