I sent all of the documents off. I didn't trust their upload client after hearing about some facepalm-type moments with it!  The only way I knew they received it was by checking the tracking info on the UPS website, so worst case scenario I can go on a manhunt for the person that received my documents  ;D

I don't blame you at all! We uploaded but it was an absolute pain getting it compressed to the size needed. Haha that is true! They have a dangerous job  ;D

The spouse visa application for my American husband was sent to NY back in January.  UPS confirmed delivery on 25/01/2019 (2 months ago).  This is a non-priority application.  So far, we've heard absolutely nothing.  Any recommendations on what to do?

Did you not receive the ECO email? I believe you're at 42 working days, so I think it would be too soon to escalate the case (though I could be wrong, but I believe for non-priority you have to wait until 60 working days to escalate). I also believe while some people receive the ECO email, not all do. I think this was the case closer to the end of last year, beginning of 2019.

I wish I had a way to help. The wait is awful, especially for non-priority as you're often doubling your time apart. But you're over 2/3 of the wait to 60 working days which is amazing!

Nope, no ECO email or anything.

However.....  Rather coincidentally, our Immigration Adviser received an email from the Home Office this afternoon saying that a decision has been made.  But we do not know what that decision is!!!  From reading here, I know that's the usual process, however stupid it seems.  It seems that many here have received their decision / visa within 1 or 2 days, so fingers crossed.

That's amazing! I am so thrilled for you both! I'm sure it'll be a yes. :) And yes, you should be able to start tracking the return tracking number tomorrow.

Ahh, that explains it.  If you used a solicitor, all emails will be directed to them.  You just weren't informed by your solicitor when you received email arrived.  :)

I did check with my Immigration Adviser, asking her if she had received anything and she replied that she had not.  Anyway, all in hand now so panic over.

Has anyone actually received the "'a decision has been made on your UK Visa application" email which was then followed up by the application being rejected?

I accept that not all visa applications are successful, obviously some applications are rejected.  However, I wonder if different correspondence is used in those unfortunate cases?

No, it’s the same generic ‘decision made’ email whether the visa has been approved or refused.

The only way to know if it has been approved or not is to open your package and see if the visa has been issued.

Visa applications made in the US (all types of visa) have an average approval rate of between 95% and 98%, so very few are refused.

Oh seeing that type of approval rating makes me feel a bit better while we wait lol

Officially one month since my docs were received in NY (I'm looking at you, mail room employee Floyd!!!) and still no ECO/received in Sheffield email. So... when can I start panicking?!?  For future reference, what's the process on contacting someone/escalating/what-have-you?
~ Visa application: Feb. 21, 2019
~ Biometrics: Feb. 27, 2019
~ Documents received in NY: Feb 28, 2019
~ Assigned to ECO: Apr 16, 2019
~ Decision email: May 16, 2019
~ Outcome: It's a yes - May 20, 2019!!

What a long, strange trip it's been!

I'm happy to say that my husband's Visa has been approved.  Flight has been booked last night and he'll be here in 4 weeks time.

For everyone else's benefit to get an idea of what recent timescales are like, here's ours:

Visa applied for online & paid: 16/01/19.
Biometrics: 22/01/19.
Application & documents posted to NYC: 23/01/19.
UPS confirmed delivery: 25/01/19.
'Decision made' email:  26/03/19.
Received passport / Visa: 29/03/19.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
