Hello,
Since everyone here has recently submitted their applications, I had a couple of questions:
Can anyone here tell me what documents you must bring to the biometrics appointment? I know I will be mailing everything to New York but wasn't sure if they looked at anything at the appointment.
Also, as far as shipping the documents/passport to New York: I read that it costs $140 for full outbound/return shipping or $82 for just return. Yikes. Has anyone shipped to New York through another carrier? Does it save much?
Thanks!
Hello,
I brought my entire folder just in case, but I only needed to show the biometrics appointment confirmation sheet to be stamped and my passport.
I wanted to upload my documents, but in the end couldn't because there was a glitch in the system. I went to a UPS store and mailed the entire package and bought a return label. I sent everything 3 Day commercial (that's what my receipt says) and it cost me a total of $31.71. The guy at UPS talked me into the 3 day saying it is cheaper and really doesn't take 3 days. Glad I didn't spend the extra money to expedite it because my he was right and my package was signed for in New York the next day. I mailed it from Rhode Island.
FYI, I have the tracking number for my return label, but the package will be sent to the UPS store, they will notify me when it is delivered and I must go pick it up.
