Wow, congrats everyone! That's very exciting! I'm so happy for you.

I'm still early in the waiting game. Today is only WD 10, so I've got quite a ways to go. The first week I was just so relieved to have sent it off that I felt great. But now doubts are seeping into my thoughts, especially at night when I try to fall asleep. I'm terrified they're going to deny me and all our plans will be ruined. Sigh. Trying to stay positive, but this is a mental and emotional challenge for sure.

In the meantime, I swear to God, if one more well-meaning but clueless American or British friend of ours says, "You're married, I thought you could just move over here/there," to me or my wife, I'm going to lose it. LOL Everyone thinks immigrating is easy. So, so, soooooo wrong.

Ohmigosh, I've rather forcefully educated some unsuspecting people for that common misconception, DetUK.  I think "shrill" is not inaccurate in describing my tone.  :P
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Hang in there! I got the decision email on WD 55 from bio, 53 from docs received. There seems to have been a slew of activity today on both the standard and priority fronts. Looks like maybe they're catching up from the summer rush. I wasn't stressed until about WD 40 and then I just fell apart at the seams. It'll get worse before it gets better unfortunately but it gets SO MUCH better! Plus there's plenty of us in the same boat to support and commiserate, lean on everyone when you need to!

After 5+ long years when my husband became a UKC and we were shouting it from the rooftops, I was amazed at how many people thought that he was already a citizen because surely it was automatically bestowed because he was married to me!

Hi everyone, been lurking on this thread for a month now and I've finally decided to post.

My husband has a similar timeline to @Lynnfinity @LynnG1968 and @DanaM.

Unfortunately, we weren't so lucky and on Tuesday (day 58) we got a "not straightforward" email, saying that the decision would take longer than 60 days. I have no idea why it wouldn't be straightforward as we meet the requirements easily - but have heard that it might just be a way for the Home Office to buy time because they haven't gotten round to our application yet.

Has anyone had any recent experience of this? I'm hoping it won't be too much longer but have been hearing some horror stories that have really worried me!

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Welcome!  :)

Yes, nine times out of ten, the not straight forward email is just a tactic they use to be able to get out of their processing standards.
You know yours was not, not straight forward so try not to worry.

Thank you! Do you know how much longer it might take from the not straightforward email to get a decision? I have emailed my MP to try and put some pressure on them but obviously they are all very busy at the moment!

Very often, the result comes not long after the not straight forward email but you just never know how long they will keep you waiting.
I hope your decision comes soon.  :)
