I imagine they dont do it in the email to avoid mistakes.

It's actually a mystery as to why the decision is not in the email.

All other visa applications except settlement visas get the decision in the email... however, all those other visas are processed in New York, not Sheffield.

So, not giving the decision in the email seems to be just a Sheffield thing.

When fiance/spousal visas were processed in New York, you got the decision in the email. When they switched them to Sheffield, you no longer got told in the email.

I wish we knew more about these canned emails alot of us have received over the past few days. Our application was pretty straightforward so for them to say that's it's not is very frustrating. Then to hear someone else that has received the email checked the status update and it said decision made just adds to the confusion sigh.....

My guess is that you are getting them because you are over or just about to go over the service standard. I wouldn't read anything more into it than that.

I'm just excited that this thread is hearing anything TBH whether it's frustrating, infuriating or fantastic.

I hope that's the case! It doesn't appear like any of the more experienced (and fantastic) forum posters here have seen this type of canned email though.

We are certainly close to the SLA at 53 business days. Application was received April 23rd.

We've seen it before.  But literally one offs here and there (maybe two a year).  Not several people in one day.

I GENUINELY believe it's one of two things:

1.  They are going over 60 business days and are basically saying "don't contact us, we'll contact you" to cover themselves.

OR

2.  A mass email went out in error.  This is UKVI after all.  I genuinely do not believe that AO many members today have non-straight-forward applications!

I have a random question for you wonderful wise people. I've recently started panicking and thinking, what if we forgot something and refuse my visa. I'm sure we all go through this. But my actual question is, I'm a registered nurse here in the US and plan to get my certification in the U.K. as well. I made this clear in my application. Due to the nursing shortage in the UK, do you think this increases my chances for an approved visa? We were quite meticulous about everything and have a strong application I believe, and two kids to prove our relationship. Any insight would help ease my mind, thanks!!

No, it is truly a tick box visa.  Tick the boxes for the visa you are applying for and you get the visa.

They won't consider your future employment for the application.

But rest assured that if you meet the requirements and submitted documentation to prove that, your visa WILL be approved!   :)

I'm afraid not.

In fact, they are not even ALLOWED to consider your profession, employment prospects or future income in the UK.

The ONLY thing they are allowed to consider in regards to employment is your UK sponsor's ability to support you WITHOUT you working or claiming UK benefits.

From the Financial Requirements document:

Quote
3.6.4. The applicant will not need to meet the minimum income threshold. Instead, the applicant is required to demonstrate that they will be adequately maintained without recourse to public funds. The relevant guidance is set out in IDI Chapter 8 section 1.7a.

This does not allow the applicant to rely on promises of third party support or prospective employment or a job offer.

Thank you for the quick reply and sorry if this post comes through twice but I also just realized I didn't do anything to pass the English language requirements. My husband says that having a degree from the USA is sufficient. Is this true?

Having a US passport exempts you from the test.   :)

All you need is US citizenship.

If you are a US citizen, all you need is your US passport to show you meet/are exempt from meeting the language requirement.

If you are not a US citizen and English is not your native language, then holding a US degree taught in English will meet the requirement.

Music to my ears. I think I knew this but I'm so stressed out thinking the worst could happen and we just signed a lease on a house in the U.K. And our $4,000 shipment leaves August 1st! Am I so dumb to have made all these plans without visa in hand?  :-X
