alright team, opened up my package today and got the wonderful news of approval :) yes! yes! yes!

a final hope for a note of clarification - it says i've got 30 days to pick up my additional documents from the office in england that i specified in the application...does that mean 30 days from now or 30 days from my visa start date (november 6th)?

Congratulations on the approval. :)
That is very odd though. The start date on your vignette is the 6th of November? What date did you put as your intended travel date? When did you apply?
You are supposed to be only able to request a travel date up to 3 months after the date of the online application.

It's 30 days from the start date on the visa, but the visa should not start any later than October, which is 3 months from when the decision was made.

To check, are you reading the date correctly (i.e. UK date format)?

Does it say:
06/11/2017 to 06/12/2017 (6th November to 6th December 2017)
or
11/06/2017 to 11/07/2017 (11th June to 11th July 2017)?

If it's 06/11/2017, that's really odd because it shouldn't start more than 3 months ahead, and it means you cannot enter the UK until 6th November.

If it's 11/06/2017, valid until 11/07/2017, that means you only have until midnight tomorrow (11:59 pm on July 11th UK time) to enter the UK!

We have seen the latter before, where a decision has been made but it's taken so long to get the visa to you that the 30 days have expired before you can fly to the UK. If this is the case, you'll need to send it back for a correction to the dates.

In fact, if it's the former and it's dated for November, and that's not the travel date you put, which means you need to enter the UK before November, you may be able to get it changed to an earlier date.

Ok everyone so in this waiting process I have started to freak myself out that I didn't send enough supporting documents for our financials and housing. Is it possible to send additional documents later on to support your application? Or will they ask me for more if they find it inadequate. I just really don't want to have to face a refusal after all this.

You can't add to the application unless they request you to send additional information. But they have been really good at doing that recently which is good.

You should have ready what you think they may ask for so that you can get it to them right away if they ask for it.

What did you send/feel that you left out?

Ok thanks!

I'm a bit worried that I gave them only five months of bank statements instead of six for our savings account. Also our housing was still a little up in the air when we applied. We are moving to the UK for my husband to begin his PhD studies at Cambridge and so we had just heard back from the Cambridge Accommodation Services. I was able to include that we had an offer from them, but not the actual tenancy agreement.

Sometimes they let things slide but I would be very surprised if they let you off with only 5 months of bank statements.  Which category did you use?

You should definitely prepare the missing documents so that you can send them if they ask for them and hope that they do.
