Hmm, I think technically she could try to enter the UK as a visitor, but she would have to be able to show she will return to her life in the US. Some people have tried it before, and I think some have been successful, but it's could be tricky trying to convince the immigration officer you're a genuine visitor, if you have a settlement visa that hasn't started yet.

Yeah, I saw that too - I know the system used to limit you to no more than 3 months ahead, but it's obviously been changed. I assumed they still wouldn't make it valid more than 3 months ahead though... this is the first time I've actually seen them issue it for further out.

I wonder if it could just have been a mistake and it was issued by someone who didn't notice that it was more than 3 months out.

Thanks ksand, that did cross my mind too! I guess we'll find out over time as/when more people request dates further out.  :)

Hello visa-awaiters.

Your request has been heard and wish granted.

I've changed the first and last post to 'Non-priority Spousal Visa Timeline'. I'm not going change all 53 pages of posts  ::) but any replies to a post with the correct topic name should be correct. If not, you can always change the topic yourself in your reply (just keep it consistent and on-topic, please, so it doesn't get confusing).

I'll expect your sacrifice on the next full moon.

Thank you TF!  :)

Just got the email confirming receipt of the application, so we can start counting now, which is nice.  :)

Also got an email saying they'd not got details of a courier account, even though we had bought the round trip courier package and included the label, which is less nice.  :(

Sending an email back saying it was included and attaching another copy to make it easier.

So here's our timeline:

Online application: 29 June
Biometrics: 5 July
Package sent to UKVI: 5 July
Package arrived: 7 July
UKVI opened and confirmed receipt: 11 July
60 business days (projection): 3 October
Online application: 29 June
Biometrics: 5 July
Package sent to UKVI: 5 July
Package arrived: 7 July
UKVI opened and confirmed receipt: 11 July
Decision email from UKVI: 2 October (59 BDs)
Passport returned 4 October - Approved!
Flight to UK: 14 October
Happiness: 15 October

Can you check the online tracker and see if it shows decided . As that was the case for some guys thought they received this weird email. The message is quite generic though they might be actually looking for something , so quite misleading at times.
Also keep an eye on your ups thingy. Hope you used ups only

I checked the tracker this morning and it still didn't recognize the number. :(

I bought the round trip courier and included the return label, so that shouldn't be the issue

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to come across your forum and am hoping that you may have some words of wisdom you can offer me?

I am a UK citizen living in NYC with my American husband and newborn son. We applied for a settlement visa for my husband and still have not heard back!
Online application submitted: 16 March 2017
Documents received and acknowledged by email from Sheffield: 4 April 2017

And we are STILL waiting for news.

We called them after 60 business days to check in and were told that our application has been reviewed and is "pending a decision" but it could take up to another 30 business days / 6 weeks for an answer!

I am beginning to fear that my son will be graduating high school before we actually get to move to UK!

Has anyone else who applied early april still not heard back?

Thanks!
Online application submitted: 16th March
Biometrics: 28th March
Email from Sheffield: 4th April
Still waiting... and waiting... and waiting...

Hi eshodgson!

Welcome to the NP Side!

Unfortunately, all our early April people have heard back. We're now getting decision emails for all the April 20 and beyond applicants.

Have you tried contacting your MP? A lot of applicants who cross over the "60 days" wait will contact their MP, and they usually see some kind of movement.

Worry not. Your son will not be in high school before you leave the US. You'll still get to enjoy flying to the UK with a tiny baby yet :)

Thanks so much for your reply! I hope I'm not being really dumb but who do you mean by MP?
We didn't use a lawyer or visa service, but sent all the documentation ourselves.
We called the visa helpline 2 weeks ago and the guy said he can see that they've looked at the application and it is awaiting a decision. I can't tell what can be taking them so long??!!??!!

Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker for a few weeks and I am so grateful to have come across this forum. It has been a massive source of comfort during my agonizingly long wait. I didn't introduce myself before because my case is a little different from most.

Firstly, I am from Barbados, not the US and my husband is also Barbadian, not a British Citizen. He is also a member of the Armed Forces as a Commonwealth Soldier. So our rules, while similar, were slightly different.

Married: December 2016
Applied Online: April 1, 2017
Biometrics: April 12, 2017
Receipt Email: April 16, 2017
Supporting Docs sent: April 18, 2017

After a long, painstaking wait, we finally received our package today. No email!!!! So thank GOD for the status checker. I happened to check on Friday July 7 (57 BD) and saw that it was decided on July 5. I waited for an email to come through but up to this day....nothing.

I decided to check my FedEx tracking number and sure enough, it showed my package was on the way.

Oh, another difference....we had to send my passport and application with Appendix to Jamaica. Then send our supporting documents to Sheffield. I only received back my passport with letter, the application form and appendix. I have no clue where my supporting documents are at the moment.

Anyway.....WE WERE APPROVED.

I just wanted to say thank you to all those who post regularly, those who share their stories and progress updates. It is truly appreciated.

For those who are still waiting, keep the faith. I pray you all receive good news within the next few days.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief,
BajanMonique

Member of Parliament!   :D

The phone centre has no clue and doesn't give accurate info.  An application only takes about two hours to process.  The rest of the time it's waiting for someone to look at it.
