Non-priority Spousal Visa Timeline

I'm new here but I feel like it's best to just call and speak to someone before trying to upgrade. The user I was following had called and was given a go ahead. When I (well, DH) called they told us NOT to do it.

they basically said our application had been received in Sheffield (we know, we got the email) and we couldn't do it anymore. This is our second app after being refused so idk if that has something to do with it.

I read another poster went ahead and tried to upgrade but hasn't heard back yet. Makes me nervous.

It used to be possible to upgrade to priority and it told you how to do it on the vfs global website. Now it tells you specifically that you can't.

No, you cannot purchase the Priority Visa Service/Settlement Priority Visa service once you have submitted your application to the respective UKVI Consulate for processing.
 

The thing is that some people have been told by the helpline that they can upgrade and have done so successfully but then the helpline is notorious for giving out incorrect information which is what I suspect happened in these cases.

Luckily Sheffield honored the priority payment in these cases but because the instructions tell you this is not possible, we can't assume that they will do so in the future.

The fact that you got a different answer than someone else has nothing to do with your specific application and everything to do with the fact that it is rarely helpful to call.  The people on the phone can be very nice but they don't have a lot of accurate information.

I'm amazed anyone got through at all. I spent an entire hour at a time on hold trying to get through and then finally was disconnected. Or are people talking about the number you have to pay for?

I just got my decision email!  Upgraded to priority last week (Tuesday), so I guess it still works, for anyone here considering it.  You can PM me too, if you have any questions about the nitty gritty.

Does anyone know when the latest non-upgraded non-priority ones that have come through are from? I'm March 9th and hadn't planned to try a switch to priority, but it seems to have stalled?

I just got my decision made email. Received and confirmed on 9th March, non-priority. Not very hopeful it was issued as I think we left out the copy of the sponsor passport.
