Hey Kiss of Death, did you see the "Secret Life of Circus Kids" on TV last night?  Plenty of hoop work going on.

Not even heard of that! hahah We don't have live TV/a TV license. We mainly just watch Netflix/Amazon Prime and whatever is playing on the non-iPlayer catch-up apps. What channel was it on?

The group is called Gorilla Circus , you can book online and just take a single lesson if you like.

Will look into it, thanks!

I think it was on channel 5 or itv or something.  Sorry I barely pay attention to non BBC channels unless it is quest.

How do you live without the BBC?  What about the news at 10?  We sit and watch that like it's a religion.

We only really sit down to watch TV with dinner (or if I'm being lazy on a weekend) so it's really just time for one of the bagillion shows we don't have time to watch that we will put on (most are Netflix). I've just gotten to the point that I don't want to hear all the doom and gloom on the news for my own sanity. I will read BBC news articles, but I just can't sit and watch it. It doesn't bring me happiness.

One of the things I wanted most when we were house-hunting was some sort of outbuilding that could become a workshop.  And now we have it!

One of my first projects in more than four years, I designed and drew up plans for this cabinet, and my husband and I built it.  Gratuitous details: ebony door pulls, and soft-close hinges.

It didn't go entirely smoothly, though.  While making the doors, we broke a router bit.

I've been trying to get back into baking (or cake making) here's a pic for a cake I made for a cake sale at school. They decided to auction the whole cake off because they didn't want to cut it up

Are those caster wheels permanent? Because I think everything should have wheels. So you can move it around.

Yes, they are.  Permanent casters on each of the corners.  The front two are locking because powertool, the back two are cheap ones that don't lock in place.

And, yes!  Everything should have wheels!  Especially in the workshop.  It makes the space so much more flexible, which makes it more functional.

This is our workshop.  I also drew up the plans for the near table (the one with the CNC machine on it), and my husband and I built it.  The top is a torsion box for rigidity.  Note that it is also on casters... it's nice to be able to move things around easily.  :)

The space was built to be stables and has a corrugated roof.  That soft light is from a translucent panel skylight.  We haven't installed proper shop lighting yet, so working in there after sundown is quite a vision workout.  But during daylight hours, it looks like this.

Oh wow! Well done! Is this totally a hobby for you or do you have professional experience designing/creating these things?? I feel like I'd have no clue how to go about drawing something that could then be used to bring that idea to life. It would just be some sh*tty little doodle.

I completely agree that his cake is far too beautiful to be cut! Nice job!

I bet the aroma is great in there. Wood shavings and a little machine oil! Add few leather strips and a bar on industrial soap.....swooning.

I was going to suggest a wood stove, but then that would lead to an old couch and then no work gets done.

That cake looks really good!  Is the frosting special so it doesn't fill you up with sweet ?  I love frosting but it looks like I would struggle to get through a piece.

Dude I could just eat the frosting off that thing. Been known to scarf a pot of that easy spread stuff with a spoon.
