All the best was already given. Just wanted to say Hi! Welcome to the group! :)

Also, no question is a dumb question - especially when it comes to immigration and life in a new country!! Even if it seems dumb to you, it isn't and it's unlikely you'll be the first person to question it :)  Ask away!

Hi and thanks! I'm sure I'll have tons of dumbness to add! LOL! I'm glad you guys don't mind.  ;)

I think we all think some of our questions are dumb at one point or another so definitely don't let that stop you from asking :)

Ha! Good then. Yeah, as you guessed, it's related to my member name here. Golden tickets... and couldn't resell them if I wanted to because they're checking that name on tickets match ID of the attendee. Not that I'd even want to let them go. ;)

I feel your pain, I've just recently had a drama about getting my passport back so I could travel. Sometimes those things are important.

I was so surprised when I started looking into this visa process that I'd have to be without my passport for a time. So yeah, have to coordinate my travels accordingly. That's also why I'm thinking August will be a good time for me to apply. I'll have returned to the states from my most recent trip to England and it should give me enough time to get everything sorted before the holiday season begins.  :)

We got married in August and applied for my visa pretty much right away (before husband went back to U.K.) and I was approved and moved over by October! :D (think, if I remember correctly, we upgraded though to priority! ...and it was a few years ago now.....but August is a good time! Maybe because a lot of people are still traveling so want their passports??)

We also applied in August (2014), got my approval 4 weeks later and had moved by October.  Now it's a bit more pressing as you only have 30 days to move (if going for a spousal visa) which I would not have liked.  I was really anxious to get my visa but then not so anxious about taking the plunge, if you can believe that.

I hope the concert is everything you hoped!  If you plan it right, you might be able to save yourself some shipping costs and can bring back all your partner's paperwork back with you.

Curious to know about this 30 day situation?

In addition to taking your partner's paperwork, you could take some things you want to leave that you won't need back at home. Might be risky but if I were in your position I'd probably take the risk...but I don't advocate people should do what I do haha

Curious to know about this 30 day situation?

As of May 31st 2015, all visas issued outside the UK which are valid for more than 6 months are issued in two parts:

1. Entry Clearance visa vignette valid for 30 days... gives one entry to the UK

2. BRP card valid for the length of the visa, which must be picked up from a UK post office within 10 days of entering the UK.

So that means that fiancé visas are still issued as a 6-month sticker in the passport but spousal visas are issued as a 30-day vignette and a BRP.

Thanks for replying :) yeah I applied in 2013 so bad no idea it changed!

If you don't enter within 30 days, what happens? seems like crazy short notice to book a flight and pack your life up! I got lucky with my flight as I had something sorted due to a problem with a flight prior (long and boring story) and luckily no furniture to pack!
