sending 2applications at once
« on: May 29, 2017, 03:41:22 PM »
I will be mailing mine and my son's applications on Wednesday (he's only 4). My husband called the home office who told him I can add both applications in the same envelope, that way all of the supporting documents for both are in one place, is this correct or do I have to send two separate envelopes? I've read that the home office gives wrong information often so I'm nervous.

Would it be best if I put them in separate envelopes then on a box? I'm just worried about going over the 2 pound weight limit, as I paid round trip through VFS. If I go over that, will they bill me or just refuse to mail it out?

It's 5 pound weight limit so you don't need to be worrying about that at least!

I'll let the more expirenced memebers take the same package question!

Through VFS it's either up to two pounds for $277 (or something like that) or 2-5 pounds for$300 something

Hi Saie.  :)

I'm looking at the vfs website at the moment and for shipping settlement applications to Sheffield, it's $227 for round trip and up to 5 pounds weight.

https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/usa/user_pay_services.html

The 2 pound thing is for non settlement shipping, to New York, but that's cheaper so I'm not quire sure where you are getting your figures from?

There must have been a glitch on the site when I ordered it, because I paid $277 for round to to Sheffield and back for up to 2 pounds. I wonder what happened lol. Anyway, does anyone have any advice for sending both applications?

OK, it says this too, from the same link.

Settlement applicants (whose documents must be sent to Sheffield UK) cannot apply as a part of a group and each individual applicant must purchase his own shipping label.

So you would have to buy two labels, but I am pretty sure you send them both in the one package as you will be sharing your evidence with both applications.

I read that too, but I'm wondering if that's not for children 18/older or who will be staying at a different house. It just doesn't make sense that i'd need to pay for two shipping labels if they are in the same package, going to and from the same location lol

Nothing makes sense on that page! I do think it means though that you are supposed to pay twice as unnecessary as that seems.
The way around it would have been to send the applications yourself  directly UPS.

Are you going to go with priority processing? Wait times are really long at the moment.

Dang. I guess I'll give them my UPS shipping account number so they can bill me in the event they needed 2 waybills, that way I'm covering my butt lol. Yes, priority. I would love to be there for my birthday the end of July as my husband and his family have something planned out for his cousin and I as we share a birthday, but from the sounds of it, that's most likely not going to happen

Sounds like a plan!  :)

So you've seen the waiting times?  ::)
Even if you don't get there by then, which there is still a chance you will, you will definitely be cutting down your wait *a lot!

I managed to find a thread with similar questions to yours.  We were right about combining both applications in one parcel anyway!

No problem!  :)

You sound very well organized, but before you mail your application, would you like to post a list of what you are going to include so that we can let you know if anything is missing?

You do have too much, and you should not send the things you don't need. Doing so creates more work for Sheffield and risks the important documents getting lost amongst the unnecessary ones.

You don't need the following, so take them all out:
- Sponsorship undertaking forms x2 (not required for spousal or child visas)
- your birth certificate
- your husband's birth certificate
- council tax bill (he can just state in his sponsor letter that he does not pay it)
- mother-in-law's bank statements (she can just state in her letter that she pays it)
- photos of bedrooms
- vows sheet
- photos with your husband's family (you only need 1 or 2 photos max. with only you and your husband in them)

What financial requirement Category are you applying under? You mention carer's allowance forms - are you exempt from the financial requirement?

If you are, then you need the following:
- letter from government showing receipt of Carer's Allowance
- at least one bank statement showing the Carer's Allowance being paid into his account
- 6 months of payslips
- 6 months of bank statements showing incomings and outgoings
- letter from his employer

What do you mean by 'stamped bio x2'? I can't work out what document this is.

In regards to communication evidence, you should not send any message/conversation content - only screenshots of dates and times should be sent on a couple of sheets of paper... no actual conversations need to be included.
