Thanks - I did wonder. Ah well it only cost me 30 mins and £40 and approximately 7000 repetitions of facts. I had absolutely no confidence in anything they told me.

The only way to actually 'escalate' your application is after 6 months by getting your MP involved.
2004-2008: Student Visa
2008-2010: Tier 1 PSW
2010-2011: Tier 4
2011-2014: Tier 2
2013-2016: New Tier 2 (changed jobs)
16/12/15: SET (LR) successful! - It's been a long road...
12/05/16: Citizenship ceremony!

6 months? I thought it was 12 weeks.

The standard email I received when I tried to  use a tracking service (autocorrected to 'attacking service' Freudian typo!) service said

'UKVI aims to complete all Settlement Visa applications within 12 weeks
excluding weekends and bank holidays, from the biometric appointment date.

Payment for Priority Service means the application will be placed in front
of the queue and assessed ahead of other non-priority visa applications it
does not provide any guarantee as to how quickly a decision will be made;
the processing of the application is still subject to the procedures of UK
visas and immigration.

As the application is still in service standard, an update will not be
provided at this time.'

The person on the phone today asked me how long it currently said on website for processing times so I told her what it said and she said that was the time before escalation (she didn't know basically) which is when I said that was too late to resolve the possibly lost documents and she said she would 'escalate'.

How are you AV have you taken flight yet?

Emily, I'm really hoping that they are truly contacting someone to verify all your documents are present and accounted for.  I do hope, that if nothing else, the documents were forwarded to the correct address.  Surely you aren't the first person to use an incorrect address within UKVI.   :)

Thank you! The absurd thing is that they said it IS (a) correct address. I did point out that no-one else seemed to be using it for American applications and it was not the address published on the website for American applications. They still said it's a general address and correct. I honestly don't know but sleeping, eating and concentrating all getting harder by the day.

I can't even imagine the frustrating you're going through right now! Sending lots of hugs your way! If I were you, I would be taking some boxing lessons to get the aggression out because I would be so stressed out at this point!

Hopefully this all gets cleared up soon!

Thank you - so do I - I and we can adapt to the waiting time being about a month longer than expected (and her consequently being without a home, most of her belongings, job and medical insurance by July). We can even adjust to knowing we have to get all original documents again, reapply and wait well into Autumn. What I cannot handle is having no clue what is happening, whether they have our documents, and follow up letters, and whether we are going to get a decision letter this week or next month to say declined on the basis of our received documents going awry. She was due to arrive today in time for her birthday tomorrow. We had a refundable flight (as it of course costs less than half booked at right time) and the flight costs now are pretty much unaffordable. Great there is this space and all of you - thanks.

Thank you. Boxing is a good idea! I have been planting stuff, growing seeds, and trying to keep busy. My teaching students has stopped for summer now so crazy amounts of time on my hands which we were meant to be spending together. But boxing might help! I do just feel so powerless and angry and wanting to lash out.
